The last huge raise and contract extension that Barnhart gifted to Stoops was absolutely unnecessary. Barnhart didn't even negotiate buyout protection for Kentucky, but we are on the hook for huge money to Stoops. The thing is, no other schools were looking to take Stoops at the time. Stoops had not proven himself with wins. The raise and extension looked bad at the time, and it's just continued to look terrible. An AD that has continued to make such bad decisions on football coaching hires wouldn't survive at any other SEC school.
