If y'all haven't been watching the Thunder with Brooks, you're missing out. Next game is Saturday, check your local listings!

Boo has gotten short shrift on a very bad Nuggets team, and sustained a back injury on Tuesday after getting slammed into a table, so he didn't play last night - not sure if he'll get any more court time.

I watched Brooks debut with the Thunder at the local Buffalo Wild Wings on their massive screen.

the rest of the players were atrocious- I think the score was 3-2 halfway thru the first quarter- but Brooks looks like he belongs.

sorry to hear about Boo’s injury

Saturday's game was an embarassment for the entire Thunder team. Brooks offense was really bad and he was probably middle of the road for the team. I think they hit 27 of 83 shots or something similar. Very little team play, mostly just jacking up threes or driving into multiple defenders and taking the shot instead of kicking out. I was a very sad panda by the fourth quarter.

No kidding. I have never seen Brooks miss so many of those fade away jumpers where he drives on a guy, gives a little shove and falls away from the contact while shooting just terrible and the rest of his team was just as bad or worse.

I think I've seen him have runs of bad shooting like that, but it's usually in the last ten minutes of the second half when he's exhausted and his shots hit the front of the rim.

The worst part for me was I'd spent the prior several games mocking the teams the Thunder was smoking because those teams played exactly the way the Thunder ended up playing on Saturday. It was like an afternoon pickup game at the Y and they'd never played together before.

Now I have to figure out how to watch G league games so we can root for him. Also, I have no idea what is going on with Boo or the other guys. Boo was on the Knicks G team last I checked, but he obviously got released because he was playing for the Nuggets. This is the kind of apparent information vacuum that encourages me to finally get on the instagrams, tik tiks, and tweeter where all the cool kids put their stuff.

From today's Athletic:

Rookies who shined

Brooks Barnhizer, Thunder: The best second-round pick in Vegas was this guy, a rugged wing from Northwestern who somehow played in eight summer-league games without being shut down. His activity stats were off the charts, with 27 “stocks” (steals + blocks) in his eight games and a 12.5 percent rebound rate despite standing 6-5. Shooting questions dogged Barnheizer his whole career and will likely determine whether he makes it, but the 44th pick in the draft showed enough to be an interesting energy guy at worst.

I was at Saturday’s game. What a brutal watch. But there were moments where Brooks got to initiate the break off of rebounds, and he looked very comfortable. A season in the G-league and he’ll belong.
I suspect his shooting will keep him off an NBA roster for now.

Probably, but it depends on what a team needs. Even now, I believe Brooks can be a bench guy who comes in and plays several minutes of hard (possibly lock down depending on the opponent) defense while assisting with moving the ball and creating openings for his teammates on offense. Sure most teams will ignore him if he just stands in the corner, but he can hustle, set picks and screens, and do damage around the rim.

I assume he'll spend the next 11 months or so working hard daily on his shooting, and is aiming for a place on their bench next year.
