Our defense was atrocious in the top of the 9th. The pitching was fine. Feel bad for 55. He did enough to close it out but we couldn’t field the ball. Had the game won on a ground ball to short and nobody covered 2B. Had he not looked to 2nd, would’ve had plenty of time to get hitter out at 1st. Of course he already had an error in the inning as well as the 2nd baseman. Both of those guys owe 55 a steak dinner.

That one still baffles me - the second baseman booted a grounder and then failed to cover 2nd. He’s been on the bench next weekend - basic baseball

Agreed. He’d have to sit for me at least a game. Of course that’s why I don’t coach. My bench would be full 😭

Gotta go through the scenarios in your head prior to the batter stepping in and covering 2nd base should have been at the top of the list.
What was he thinking?
