Saw they sell the grippos powder at Kroger.
I think he is talking straight seasoning. Its what they use at Hammerheads in Louisville for the fries - which are dope.
Grippos are possibly the most overrated food item in the entire world.

I have friends who haven't used the powder, but crushed up the chips and used it as breading for fried chicken.......it's pretty decent.
Haven't tried the sauce yet, that could be interesting.

Lays also has a Carolina BBQ that's a little harder to find around here. It has a twinge of vinegar with it. Not quite as good as KCM but fair.
If you like vinegar though Jimmy Johns has some really good sea salt & vinegar chips that will make you pucker.

Grippo's. Can't beat them with an Ale-8, but was "raised " Grippo's and Dew. I love the chips, but it's the dust at the bottom of the bag that takes the cake. Can't say that about other chips. Matter of fact, one of my sons bought me a 12 pack of Ale-8 and 3 double bags of Grippos. ....been saving the last bag for a special occasion...it appears the time has come
The last bag of Grippos I bought had enough powder on each chip it could've been blown off. Usually can't go wrong with them though.
Golden Flake Hot Thin and Crispy is an underrated chip. Lays BBQ Kettle Cooked are good, but too often shaped like fortune cookies, which can ruin things.
Hot Fries are still my go-to if we're talking any bagged snack. Ate the hell out of them as a kid and rediscovered them a few years ago.

Not really a BBQ chip fan, but I've tried Grippos and they are terrible. The Frito Twists are crack though. I'll eat a whole bag if my little grandson doesn't grab them first.
I like a Grippo but to me there is a point after a handful of them, I'm done. The same can not be said about BBQ Fritos. There is so much nostalgia for me with them as they were the only chip my old man ate when I was young. Every camp/fish/hunt trip involved a bag of those things.
I'm not a huge fan of Grippos either. I guess if you've grown up with them you think they're the best ever. I just see them as way overseasoned.

I love Grippos. They are hit or miss though. One bag is great with the dust. The next bag looks like they are just plain chips. Grippos plain chips are awful.
