This is shocking to me. A guy who is 66 yrs. old, has a team that is in the mix for a national championship, and leaves for a team that is rebuilding? I guess he's like Coach K, expects to coach forever.

Sometimes you have to cash out when your stock is high. He prob. has less pressure with the Cavs. Make the playoffs and he looks like a genius.

Beilein will most likely be coaching either Zion or RJ.

Best of luck to him working with Dan Gilbert. Glad he got the 5 year deal, Gilbert hasn't extended a coach since Paul Silas in 2005 (who was god awful.)

It shouldn’t be that surprising except the fact there wasn’t talk of it this weekend that I heard.

He had interviewed I’m pretty sure on more than one occasion in the recent past, and he has not been happy and said so with the direction of college basketball in recent years.

I think college basketball lost a great coach but part of me is glad because his teams were very tough outs.

Didn’t he turn them down when Lebron was there?

I think so. There are so many offers he's turned down. It's really hard to remember. We had a thread a few years ago listing everything he has turned down. It was impressive to say the least. The list has grown a lot since then I'm sure. OFC

Bet on him being fired before his contract ends and him being back in college. Year 3 sounds about right. 100

I don't follow BIG basketball, but does Beilein have any branches on his coaching tree? Just curious.

They weren't going to be in the mix for anything next year. Lost their top three scorers (2 of which were very surprising decisions) with a weak incoming class.

Michigan’s listed hot board is a joke in regards to realistic candidates for that good of a job. The two best guys are Nate Oats and Bobby H. They mention placing an obligatory call to guys like Wright and Bennett.

I just can't imagine a guy like Beilein having the privilege of coaching Zion longer than Coach K did. It sucks. Just don't are much for Beilein. Zion deserves better. OFC

I’m shocked but this was a good move for him. Brazdeikis entered draft, Matthews graduated. No big names in the draft class coming in.
