It's the NBA. Seems like most everyone is on a 4 year plan in the NBA including coaches. He'll be out by the time he reaches 70.

A most curious move by both parties to say the least. Did he sense that a future NC at Michigan was unlikely? Was he being pushed out for a younger coach? If so, shame on the Wolverines, I think Beilein was a class act coach.

Beilein is one of the good guys. Surprised to see this happen at his age, but apparently at this point he was shown a mountain and he is ready to climb it. A loss for MNCAAB and certainly a loss for Michigan.

Pitino was once offered the Michigan job. I am sure he would be more than open to taking the job this time around. o_O

Sometimes it’s not about what he can do on the court as the coach. It’s about what he can teach everyone in the organization about basketball. Beilein is widely considered to be one of the best offensive minds in the game. So you bring him in and learn all you can from him while you’re rebuilding the franchise. And since he’s an offensive minded coach, he puts an exciting basketball product on the floor for fans to watch during that rebuild.

They will not go after CRP. He is considered toxic by most reputable programs. Petrino is as well for what it’s worth.

Someone will take a chance on Rick, eventually, and be very glad that they did. Someone like a St. John's type program. On the other hand, when you have 2 recruiting scandals and then sue your employer for FARR'N YE for them, not a resume' builder.

Petrino, I don't know. Tanking your season intentionally for a $14MM buyout isn't a resume' builder, either. I think he has to start a lot lower on the food chain.

Hope John B. is getting paid well, over 80% of college coaches flunk out as NBA coaches and no offense to John I don't see him as an NBA coach. Take the money and run.
