Calipari has picked up 6'9" RHP Ben Jordan as a player for basketball, I am sure he will never see the floor for a game, except a blowout. I guess he will be a 2 sport athlete and probably won't play baseball until after basketball season is over. I hope he gets a chance to work out his arm some, though.

That's crazy. He may be a weekend starter for us.

So, the question becomes... what happens in February and March? Is he on the baseball bench or the basketball bench?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, the whole baseball team is working out now informally for baseball, when Ben is practicing basketball.

Pitcher is the position to do this though - all they do is run, lift, bullpen and PFPs...basketball can cover some of the conditioning and he should be able to get in bullpens on his own time. Good for him, should be a great experience.

I think it is a great experience for him. Still, this does raise some questions... we learned today that our first baseball game is February 14th down in Ft. Worth. That same weekend, UK basketball will be playing Ole Miss in Lexington.

So, does Jordan travel with the baseball team, or does he stay in Lexington to be on the bench for the basketball team? That next Tuesday the baseball team is playing at home and the basketball team is on the road against LSU.

In general, if UK goes all the way to the Final Four then Jordan might be out of baseball commission until April 6th. That would mean that he would miss almost half the SEC schedule. 33 of the 56 some odd total regular season games.

So, is Jordan going to bounce between the two? Will he quit the basketball team once the baseball season gets in high gear? Will he play out the basketball season? Does this mean Jordan isn't really projected to be a weekend starter like many thought he might?

If he’s truly an impact baseball player, I think he will be on the hoops squad until January comes around and then he will go baseball full time.

I can’t imagine a scenario where he would ride pine on the basketball team while missing playing time for baseball.

Let's hope so.

In the article UK athletics put out Jordan said baseball would remain his number 1 priority.

Could Calipari bring in Ahmad Wagner from the Football team since he has actual D-1 basketball experience for Iowa? There would be no reason why Jordan could not return for the start of baseball season in this case. I don't believe it is a likely scenario because Wagner is certainly going to be preparing for the NFL Draft. I'm more concerned if this is possible than probable to understand how this all works with multi-sport athletes.
