Gamecocks Messina Wins 2024 Johnny Bench Award

University of South Carolina junior catcher Cole Messina was named the winner of the 2024 Johnny Bench Award, MSA Sport announced today (Wednesday, June 26). Messina was selected as the top male NCAA baseball catcher in the county by the organization.

I've seen him projected in the first two rounds of the draft, which slots at a million plus. I'm not sure how that compares to nil money and a chance at Omaha, stranger things have happened!

I'd be shocked if Moose comes back. Especially after his instagram post last week captioned "Thankful for the last 3".
