When cooked correctly, not much beats McDonald’s. It’s a very rare occasion when they’re done right, though.

Freddy’s are great and you get a lot of them.

Not sure if Penn Station is fast food or not, but they are my favorites. They have it down to a science.

McDs fries have to be hot and plenty of salt. I always eat them first, then whatever sammich I got with them.

Penn Station are good too.

CFA waffle fries are good also.

If Penn Station and Five Guys count, those are the runaway winners.

In the frozen fries category I’d go with McDonalds or Culver’s.

Several places have terrible fries. Steak and Shake, Frddies, A&W are all awful and preclude me from ever eating there.

Off topic - anyone try the KFC fries? They got rid of the wedges and replaced them with fries and they are TERRIBLE.

McDonald’s fries before 1990. That’s when they started trying to make them “healthier” and in the process completely ruined their status as the Mack Daddy of French fries in the fast food world.
Yes.

McDonald's
Cane's

That's pretty much it for me. Not a big potato fan to begin with.

Arby's curly fries are top notch. I could probably eat about 500 of 'em in one sitting if I wasn't worried about choking to death or becoming a fat.

You know whose fries are absolute trash and have always been trash? Burger King. I don't know why they've struggled so much coming up with a decent french fry, but that crap has been bland my entire life.

that placed that used to be called Richies on Georgetown Rd had great wedges. I don't' live there anymore and I believe they changed the name.
It’s Grimes’s. Still pretty good overall, but they raised their prices. Also, last time I ordered fried mushrooms they gave me fried cauliflower. That’s two strikes, Grimes’s’s’s.

I try to avoid fries most of the time with my rebuilt ticker and bad relationship with cholesterol, but I haven't had a really good one in a long time. I'm disappointed more often than not.

Got bad news Larry. Kenny's closed.

Current rankings:

Culvers - probably the most consistent. Big, fluffy fry.
White Castle - almost as consistent as Culvers. Always fresh and good.
CFA - mostly good, not always crispy

There isn't really any other drive thru worth a shot around here. There are better fries, like McDonalds, but your chance of getting good McDonalds fries are probably less than 20%

Any Fast Food joints have sweet potato fries? Crispy Sweet Potato Fries cannot be beaten.

I liked Arby's curly fries when I was a kid, but over the past 20 or so years, the only times I can think of that I've eaten fries is at Five Guys in Lexington, Rally's in Richmond (and I think Monticello, but I might be remembering wrong), and Penn Station in Somerset. I'm not a fry fan but I like the fries at those places.

Culver’s. Five Guys. Penn Station. Tots from Sonic.

The rest are pretty crap except for the rare exception. Burger King and Wendy’s are so hit or miss I can’t even mess with them anymore.

My daughter says Arby's sweet potato fries are really good

I'd try them but no Arby's for me. I had a friend get food poisoning there.....twice. Not sure why he went back after the first time. They also have a sign in the drive through window that says some of their ingredients don't agree with everyone, lol.

Five Guys are tops.

Wendy's is close if cooked right
This was exactly my vote. But if Wendy’s fries get cold they are trash. Wendy’s has a sign up when you pick up your food to try your fries and they will make fresh ones if you ask. Tots are for 4 year olds
