Question. Is it possible that the 4 best players in the conference are Okafor, Cook, Tyus, and Justise? I understand that others have better numbers, etc, but it seems to me that we have guys, if they played with any other team would be that teams best player. Am I crazy?

Collectively, there is not a better 4. Individually there can be cases made for all the positions (except for Jah). That said, I wouldn't take any sg over Quinn, and the same thing with pg Tyus imo. So that leaves Justise...there are players with better stats, but this guy is very special, so no...I wouldn't take anyone over him either. I'm certainly biased, but I'll stand by those 4.

I thought Jah had ACC POY completely locked up but Quinn is making one heck of a push. He is playing sensational basketball right now. The jump he has made between last year and now is very similar to the one his God brother Nolan Smith made between his sophomore and junior years.

Tyus and Winslow are making a nice run themselves lately. Possibly moving up the all ACC type stuff.

Christmas, Grant, Anderson, Rozier, Harrell and some others are pretty darn good players. They can't be short changed.

I'll give you Jerian Grant. But, if winslow, Jones or Cook were on any team in the confernce, they would be the best player. Maybe not Jones at ND, but everyone else would be.

I'm just not sure that's a definite. These guys are all good here at Duke because they have good chemistry playing together. That might be the same elsewhere. All if them are really good though.

I would put Christmas up there also. He's having a great year which has been quiet because of what's going on with that program. He and Grant are excellent players also.

I think Quinn is playing himself onto the 1st team with Okafor, Grant, Christmas, and Harrell. Anderson's injury might keep him off the 1st team. Paige will get his votes because he is a known quantity, and we know the UNC media will want their guy on there. I think though that it is very difficult to make a compelling argument that he is having a better year than Quinn.

I would replace Harrell with Tyus or Olivier Hanlan. Angel Rodriguez looked first team got a while played himself off.

There are a lot of great players in the ACC. We can get two on there...and probably would if the season ended today. Just not sure whether the second would be Tyus or Quinn.

Paige has almost no chance. He's a great player, but I think even UNC fans would acknowledge he hasn't been very good. Injuries plays a part, but a lot of players are dinged up at this point in the season. Most teams just don't publish them as much as others.

Those players are all great players but they are also great because they play with one another. Do you know how much easier it is for your guards to play with a guy like Okafor in the middle? He pretty much commands a double team. That opens up so much more for guys like Jones and Cook that they would not have without Okafor. There are some guys in the ACC that would thrive just as much in your offensive system with Oak as Cook, Jones and Winslow do. With that said, Okafor, Jones and Winslow are sure-first 1st round draft picks and Cook is playing his way up draft boards. So they are obviously very good players. But to suggest that Duke deserves four 1st team All-ACC players is a little overboard.

The best player is Okafor -- and, really, IMO there is no close second.

As for the All-ACC team, I would not include Justin Anderson b/c of the injury (i.e., you can't be all conference if you miss half the conference season).

My list would probably be:

Grant
Brogdon
Cook
Christmas
Okafor

Rozier
Hanlan
Lacey
Harrell
B. Johnson

I think Tyus is probably the 2nd most important player on the team -- and clearly the most important IMO in big moments. But, with that said, I don't think his per game production is good enough for first team consideration (hard to recover from only scoring 21 pts. in our first 4 ACC games and then a couple down nights against lesser competition).

This isn't about ACC teams. Clearly, we will only have Jah and maybe Quinn on the 1st team. I am trying to say that if any of our Big 4 played on anyone elses team, they would be that teams best player and would probably make 1st Team or at least 2nd team. Since they have to share the ball on the same team, they won't have the numbers of others, but are better players overall.
