Is this potentially the most loaded group of running backs that TU has ever had?

This is a notable group of returning players who have been starters at Big 12 schools.

We lack the high end talent imo to make this group the “most loaded” in TU history. We do have great depth

Probably some of the best depth, but not sure about most loaded group ever. The Palomino Express comes to mind, and I'd have to look up who TU had in the RB room with Ron Jackson...or DeAngelo Brewer...or Tarrion Adams. @Larry Lewis would be a good one to answer this question.

Some pretty loaded rooms with Clay during Graham/Malzahn. T Adams was part of that time. 2008(T Adams Sr, C Tenniel Sr, Clay So, Jamad Williams So, Opseyitan Fr.) Blankenship had a pretty loaded room the year he walked in and won the championship with Graham's players, with players like Singleton. He ran it down your throat 4 plays out of 5. Opposing teams knew it was coming every play and they still couldn't stop it. That's a tight room with a decent OL.

Trey Watts, Ja'Terrian Douglas and Alex Singleton is the best running back room in TU history.

Definitely a good one. The "Palomino Express" running back duo of Ken Lacy and Michael Gunter from the 1982 football season is hard to beat though, with both players surpassing 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, a feat accomplished by only one other college backfield duo. They helped Tulsa achieve a 10-1 record and Missouri Valley Conference title.

This is the best of my lifetime.

I say it that way because now I can’t be wrong since the “Palomino Express” was before my time. Therefore, I cannot be wrong! 😂

I first started following TU basketball & football in '81 . So as a young pup of 12 years old(in '82) I started following TU just in time to catch the Palomino express. I just can't remember them well enough to compare them to Graham's/Blankenship's RBs, and compare them. That's as much because I was so young as well as that it was approx. 45 years ago.

In recent history, that is the best one.

Yes, Chris, I agree with you on the Palomino Express. Gunter and Lacy on the field at the same time in the days of 2-back offenses. With TU running the veer they were lethal. Both played in the NFL. Lacy was terrific in the USFL. Third leading rusher in 1983 in the USFL behind Herschel Walker and Kelvin Bryant at over 1000 yards when the Michigan Panthers won the USFL championship. It was cool seeing Lacy in 1984 play for the Panthers at Skelly Stadium against the Oklahoma Outlaws. Good QB matchup of Bobby Hebert v. Doug Williams. Nothing like walking a few hundred feet from the frat house to see professional football.

I knew Larry would have an awesome answer.
