Never had that happen. The only time I've seen someone walk off the stage was Ariel Pink. He opened for Slint at the Brown Theater. After a handful of AWFUL songs with a crowd that couldn't have cared less, he just went "Boy I'm tired, I might just call it a night" and the audience started cheering so he walked off
Apparently their crew was backstage smoking pot and the cops came back there. They got mad and walked out. Came back out about 5 minutes later and gave this long speech about how they came to give us the gift of their music and now the cops were hassling them. Ranted on for a minute or so and walked off and never came back. It was at Louisville Gardens in the early 90's.

I saw Elvis Costello at a Jai Ali fronton in Bridgeport CT back in the early 80's, Imperial Bedroom tour. Left after 3 or 4 songs. Came back half hour later.
Tom Petty was so high in a show in Jersey on his Southern Accents tour, he just kept flipping the bird and mumbling. Lasted a half hour.

Saw Neil Young in the early 80's at Commonwealth Convention Center. He played a set with just him, his guitar and harmonica. Played about 8 or 9 songs. He took a break and was coming back with the full band. Apparently had food poisoning and never came back out. What I saw was great though.
