vegas pushed the spread on saturday's game to 11.5 and the over to 75. ou-tx opened with the sooners favored by 10.5 and the over at 73.5. for those new to the wonderful world of throwing away money (gambling) that means most of the $$ are being wagered on the favorite (ou -10.5) thus causing the bookies to increase the spread to get donors (gamblers) to even out the bookie's risk by having money wagered on the underdog. all vegas wants is to split the bets and keep the juice (the $ paid for the privilege of donating...usually 10% of the bet). okay so bottom line is the betting public believes ou is gonna win by more than 10 saturday. i thought the money would've been going to the plus side (bet on texas +10.5).

Agree - I thought 10.5 was too high (for gamblers) and would trend down to about 8 or 8.5.
Just more proof that the crooked noses know something about gambler mentality.

I like being favored, but I too felt the initial 10.5 spread was too high. Now it's gone up to 11.5! I guess that this is a concern to me because I think of all the times OU came into this game as the favorite (sometimes double-digit favorite), only to lose. I wouldn't touch this bet with a 10-foot pole, but I will be there cheering my *** off for the Sooners!
