I thought it was alright until the final act, then it got great and then of course the ending.

We're just beginning here. Love the Breaking Bad tie ins so far. Of course I want this show to succeed on its own merits but I love the fact that we're back in the BrBa universe.

I definitely think Odenkirk can carry a series on his own. Still has the great cinematography and production values that separates it from your standard television fare.

I already love this show. It's got just enough quirkiness to be a great series. Love seeing Mike and Tuco. Hopefully we will see other former Breaking Bad characters from time to time, if just for a few moments.

Whichever one of you asshats I follow on Twitter that hated this premiere doesn't know good television, apparently.

Very happy with the premiere. Definitely has that BB-esque feel. I really hope we see Walt and Jesse at some point, though I'm sure it won't be for several seasons.

Saul was my favorite on BB so this has been a blast to watch. Gilligan and company are genuises.

I love that even though its a prequel, the opening scene was a flash forward to Saul's life post-BB.

It's going to be great.

Awesome. Hope we get to see all the BB folks except for that ***** Skyler.

Gilligan could make a silent film better than 99% of today's films.

This. I think it also lets the viewer know where the ending is. The thing with BB, its apparent Gilligan had an overview of how the series would begin and end. Have a feeling that this scene lets us know where the ending will be.

There is a lot of room for Saul as a character, hubris, tragic flaws, etc.

That just means it's really going to suck waiting a whole week for another one...

Has anyone on here seen the film Nebraska? The opening scene could be seen as a nod to it with the black and white, Odenkirk and it being well, in Nebraska. Just wondering if there were any other references to the film having not seen it myself.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure. Since Gilligan loved to use Flash Forwards that shows a snippet of what is to come, we could very well see what happens in Saul's future at the end of the series. Perhaps he gets fed up with his isolated and fearful state of living and tries to get back to where he once was. I'd love to see Saul pick himself back up after getting destroyed by Walter White. Sort of a rise, fall, and rise again story.

Another fun little easter egg/foreshadowing that you can only catch when you rewatch the episode is when Saul is explaining his scheme to the skaters, one of them goes "Tight, Tight, Tight" A once used Tuco phrase in Breaking Bad after he snorts Walters meth. Brilliant!

Personally, I am secretly hoping we get a glimpse of Walt Jr. eating a bowl of cereal. Just a glimpse mind you...something where you might only catch it on a 2nd or 3rd viewing of the episode...like he is barely in the background in a diner scene where Saul is meeting with a client or something. No actual lines where Jr. speaks or anything ridiculous like that...just simply shoveling a spoonful or two of cereal into his mouth.

But that's just me...I tend to dream big.

Yea, yea, yea...picture this:

Cinnabon GM Saul Goodman is out front dealing with an unruly customer while Walter Jr. is in the back cooking up a batch of he blue, and eating Corn Pops.

The beginning 30 minutes of the 2nd episode has made me love this show already.

Yep. Glad to see this already has been booked for 2 seasons... There is definitely a story arc being built here. But you already see the seeds of where Saul is about to "break bad".

EDIT... I also LOVE the intro tune... Guess it's a short original piece but can't get it out of my head. Like a commercial jingle.

Another incredible episode. Already the best show on television.

As other posters have stated; it'll be interesting to see how often we see saul in current day.

Two questions. Either they've not been answered yet or I missed it:

What is the relation between Saul and Chuck, and why does he not have anything electronic in his home?

OK...so here's the deal...

This show is either gonna be the GOAT...and by that I mean the greatest spin-off show of all time...or it is going to be outstanding for a season or 2 and then flame out quickly.

Either way it shall be a glorious ride.

BTW...That bargaining scene in the desert was priceless. Saul at his absolute best. Negotiating for two broken legs instead of death. "Now that's one broken leg each...a total of two broken legs."

Just saw episode 1 last night from the DVR. The opening scene in the courtroom made me laugh so hard I thought I broke a rib. I had to stop the show and walk around for 25min to try and catch my breath. Just awesome!

Look, I like the show a lot. I thought that scene was great. But, you laughed so hard you almost broke a rib, and you had to pause the show and walk around for 25 minutes to catch your breath?

How are we supposed to react to that? It's either nonsense, or you're a maniac. No middle ground.

No kidding.

Thought the show has started out great, very entertaining. But the hype in this thread is a bit out of control.
