It's Derby week so obviously there's a lot of wagering going on. I'm not a big bettor at all. I'm a novice still. I mess around on the TwinSpires app every so often around this time of year, but nothing big.

We got invited to the Oaks this year. Even got a box on the first turn given to us by the guy my Step daughter works for. Him and his wife are one of the official Photographers for Churchill Downs and the Derby. So I want to make the most of what little I have to wager. When I mess around on the app I mostly do just some WPS or WP bets, maybe an occasional Exacta box. Like I said, I'm a novice, but I want to up may game.

So for all those who bet the ponies, what are your secrets? What do you look for when looking over the racing forms or the horses history, Jockey, Owner, pedigree, etc. What types of bets do you place that you get wins on most frequently? Let's make this thread a tips and advice type thread and see if we can make some new Paddock millionaires.

I win most often with Exacta boxes. Wheeling is probably next. I like favorite/*. Hope the star is 40/1. Usually it is a top 3 or 4 horse. Wheeling with the favorite second is also something I do.

If you want to be a millionaire you better bet superfecta with long shots. I remember back about 25 years ago, I was at a race that the superfecta paid $36, 000 for a 2 dollar bet. Some woman sitting a few rows over from me started screaming her head off when they posted that, and I looked at my friend and said wonder who hit the super?

Past performance at distance and workout times.

I have failed to become a millionaire betting. I did notice the track owners often drive Bentley's or Ferraris.

Someone lost the house betting on the Sunbelt Womens Volleyball Championship and has now turned to horse betting, huh?
