I actually didn’t think Butler looked 100% out there. He looked a step slower than his usual on defense and got beat off the dribble several times, so I’m not sure I really think there was much intentional misdirection about his status. I’m glad he played though. He gave us some much needed stability at the point, and the game would have been much scarier without his shooting performance for the ages.

I really think it was intended that he played reduced minutes..
No one expected him to have such a hot hand
I’m with @CrimsonCats ..he wasn’t quite himself defensively. But be sure made that up on the offensive end

Actually in the Last Dance documentary, he says he got food poisoning from a pizza the night before. The flu story was just a cover.
