Terukina has losses to Teske and Prata. Mastro should be the 1 seed with a win over Prata.
Mastro is clearly hurting. We know about the ankle and John has also mentioned a hand/jammed fingers injury multiple times. I think there could be more too, like a rib issue. I would shut him down until Big12s. Duals don't matter. And if this team has any pride, they would win Bedlam without him anyway.
I’ve been saying I think there is a rib injury for a couple of weeks with his all of the sudden inability to get off bottom and get a take down. Someone mentioned his hand but I haven’t noticed any taped wrist or fingers. It looked like last night his knee was taped up and he was limping. I was looking to see if he had a brace or anything on his ankles and I don’t think he did. I guess the kid is falling apart idk.
John said the hand/fingers affect Mastro's turning ability on top because his grip strength is still not 100% yet. The rib injury is speculation based on his match against AF. He was ridden out in the 3rd and grabbed his ribs after each stoppage.
Mastro was on a pretty good roll at the first of the season. We saw good improvement over last season. Leg, hand, rib, have slowed him down. Hopefully he can get healthy over the next few weeks. Hell, he’s still what 13-1 on the season? Looking at a top 6-7 seed if he wins out. Not bad for basically his RS freshman season.
The one seed would get him away from the 2 AAs that got him last year. Important team points
Speaking of Mastro, haven’t seen anyone mention how our stubborn, hard-headed coach that never adapts had Mastro choose neutral.
If it gets the recruits, develops the team, the money is there, and it’s within the rules, then I’d expect it to happen. It’s possible the former AD didn’t like it.
Its John. He doesn’t believe in it and thinks it is at best operating in the gray areas of NCAA compliance (which he is correct).
Unless he has a change of heart we won’t dive full go into the RTC race until he retires.
Unless I'm wrong he split with Prata, lost to Terukena and beat everyone else. I'm hoping for a 3 seed at the worst and hopefully a 2 seed
Agree, probably 3 seed. He didn’t wrestle Lamont and the kid from WV so prob be 3 with teske 4
