After a long summer of learning a new job, time to start focusing again on the Sooners...and my
Big 12 picks on games. I have a feeling there may be a few surprises in the conference this year. My picks may be a little less confident than last year.

I plan to have my week #1 expected scores list later this week. I am very excited to see how the younger Sooners have stepped up since spring...and ready to bring havoc to those before us in the schedule. Baker is bulked up...and the Perine/Mixon train is refueled and about to leave the station.

I don't know if Texas will beat ND, but I think they might And whether they do or not, I think they'll be top three in the conference, maybe top two. I believe their defense will be terrific and they'll finally have a young quarterback who won't screw it up. They'll be some growing pains most likely. But I think OUr toughest game will be in Dallas.

Welcome back.

I do believe this is going to be Mixon's big break out year. I'm thinking he rolls big time.

Texass moves that young QB to receiver. Swoops is still the guy. Fyi

Thanks WNS. The youngish shorthorns should be improved. Emphasis on should. Reality says probably not. Rest of conference about same or worse. Sooners will rule the ring...hopefully with the key knockout punches.

I have no idea what the offense will be like, but that defense will come of age this year. I do expect the Horns to dominate defensively this year if they stay healthy. They're pretty loaded up. Depth could be an issue by mid season but the starting core will be a very decent team.

A lot of Texas' success will be based off how many good defenses they will face in the Big Twelve. Buechele might not screw up like Heard and Swoopes did, but he's still a true freshman. He'll have his WTH moments as well as all freshmen do.

Totally agree, MM. But I think Texas has the hosses this year, to hand the ball off 30 to 35 times a game and beat up your defense. Warren is likely to be a stud. Their second guy is pretty good, too. I think the OLine is now old enough to be solid, and their defense has a chance to be better than solid, maybe a whole lot better. They are dangerous. If anybody should know that, it's OUr guys, given the last three years.
