ISU is a bit of a mystery to me. Either Texas found a defense or ISU had an off day on offense. If OU holds ISU to 17 points or less I will be estatic. However after what we seen against BU I worry about every game.

Iowa State looked like a team that was in disarray and chaos. It's not like they don't have good WRs and a solid RB. But the playcalling and a hassled QB really seemed to doom them against Shorthorns. I expect same results this week in Norman.

Does that mean they cornered MS and asked him to please let someone else call the plays on D?

Before anyone gets to upset over my reply in my opinion he should have been let go when Bob made the changes to the offensive staff. He was just as responsible as they were and quite honestly maybe even more.

You won't get any grief from me. The offense got pretty bad and Josh was fired for it, the defense had been just as bad and even worse yet MS is still hanging around and acting like he is untouchable. I have asked this question before. Venables had just as much a hard time defending against big12 offenses as Mike has. Is it Coaching? Lack of talented Players? Not developing players? Are big 12 offenses just too hard to defend? Too complicated? Which is it? If OU is an Elite Program then why can't we attract as much talent on the defensive side of the ball as we do the offensive side? When Venables was at OU some on here and other outlets said Brent's defensive scheme was too complicated for the players to understand and thats why his defensive units struggled. Is it still complicated under MS, I seriously doubt it.

I don't and I hope I am bad wrong but he will cost us a game this year with his bs possibly 2. I said it a few months ago, the wrong Stoops left. Not a knock at all on Riley just if you had asked me then which Stoops needs to go I would have said MS.

The tone of the D on Saturday will say volumes for rest of season. Come out with fire in the belly after the bye week...or that chaotic mess that was seen against Baylor? We shall see how Mike Stoops and Crew made the defensive corrections. Just get after the Clones QB often and grab control of the game. That was my reason to go with the 17 points for the Clones.

A more aggressive and active pass rush will be needed as will the tighter DB coverage. I am sure both were worked on hard over the bye week. They know stakes are high and that everyone is pinning their ears back when they play us. Time to put it to them and take care of business.

Don’t know who your referring too but I mentioned our defense could be better because it was obvious that Bob was heavily involved with the defense during games and commented maybe the players were getting confused with hearing it from Mike and Bob. Regardless, why would a head coach need to be shouting alignment instructions when he has a DC that he’s paying $1mm a year? After Baylor we see why, MS doesn’t know s*^# from shinola.
