Statement from the Big Ten Conference

The Big Ten Conference’s main priority is to ensure the safety of our students, coaches, administrators, event staff, fans and media as we continue to monitor all relevant information on the COVID-19 virus.

At this time the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament will continue to be held as scheduled. Postgame media availabilities will continue to take place at the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, however they will be held in larger designated areas of Bankers Life Fieldhouse in lieu of team locker rooms.

We will continue to consult with Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the Marion County Public Health Department and the NCAA leading up to and during the event to implement best practices and provide the most current information.

Let me get this straight...bunch of schools closer to areas of outbreak...Rutgers, Maryland, PSU, OSU....have gone to online learning....

And those student athletes and staff will now congregate together in one place....with fans, family, media, etc.

Afterwards everyone will return to their respective campuses, communities, homes, etc.

That reads to me like the main priority is to ensure safety versus upset the income flow from the Big Ten and NCAA tournament

100%. As I told a friend earlier today as it relates to conference tournaments and the upcoming NCAA tournament, it's ridiculous to me that in each case the organization that is making the decision is the one that has the largest financial interest in if it is played or not.

Things have escalated so quickly since the weekend that I’d not be surprised tomorrow’s games have no fans.

1/2 to tip off and 90% of fans are IU fans

Last night
According to the BTN announcers the second game tonight will be the last with fans. Why they allowed these two games to be played, when the NCAA announced earlier today that no games would have fans present. Sure sounds like someone dropped the ball.
