Hey Styre...can you explain your statement on twitter that BMac and Collins were both detriments in the Gonzaga game?

I don't actually post on twitter. I just like to read all the NU hoops feed stuff...

But I'm really curious to hear how they were a detriment in that game...?

McIntosh was very inefficient (20 points on 7/20 shooting), made some bad decisions, and turned it over 5 times. It was a world away from the excellent game he had against Vanderbilt despite the similar point totals. You could argue that Lindsey, who was even less efficient, was a bigger detriment - I was certainly shaking my head at a few of his decisions as well.

Collins killed the NU comeback by getting a T at the worst possible time. Yes, they blew the call, and no, there's no guarantee that NU would have come all the way back, but the game essentially ended with the two technical foul shots to put Gonzaga up 7 with the ball.

Without BMac in that game, we lose by 20 at least. He was in no way a detriment.

Remember when some (me included) were worried about BMac's shooting earlier in the season? He got it sorted out (once he shaved)......

Still only the second best #30 though......

I don't think there is any question he will be the best PG in NU history. Who else? He's better than anyone I have watched since 1974.

He's our most important offensive player, because he's by far the best PG on the roster and arguably the best PG NU has ever had, so you're right that we would have been much worse without him out there. But that doesn't automatically mean every game he plays is a good one.

He stepped it up significantly in the postseason, which is obviously a good thing, but he still had by far the worst shooting season of his career.

If BMac can be a more consistent shooter NU can become a much better offensive team. When his shot is falling, the team is hard to stop. When it isn't, everything bogs down.
