There are plays from huge games that always stick in my mind like Singler/Zoubek defense on Hayward in Butler game. Plays from yesterday that will remain:

1. Justice offensive rebound with 3 mins to go and two Zag players draped over his back. A man's rebound!
2. Matt Jones steal in the post with 10 mins left
3. Justice three from wing with 4 mins left
4. Our guards switching on defense last 10 posessions
5. K's jumping & raising hands to crowd.

Add some......

IIRC, Cook taking the ball to the hole and banking a floater in when it was 38-34 Zags (and they had the momentum).....

The Tyus Jones save.

The Matt Jones 3 to put us ahead for good.

Justise's three at the 2:45ish mark was huge, and all the aforementioned plays, and his offensive boards late. Tyus's save will be one that really sticks with me. As will K's reactions. He wanted this very, very badly for these guys. Really great stuff.

The Justise 3 was the play of the game because of its timing and significance relative to momentum, emotion, etc. Being down 6, if the Zags get a stop there and then get any kind of score on the next possession, it would have been game on. They had been fighting hard all game, but had only led for a minute or so. That takes a toll on a team emotionally when they feel like they are climbing uphill for the entire 40 minutes. When they were down 6 they were all in with whatever energy and emotion they had left. For Justise to step up in cold-blooded fashion and knock down a ridiculously tough 3 off the dribble with a hand in his face, it was game over. Every other play leading up to that point was important in its own respective way, but that play individually, was the nail in the proverbially coffin.

For me it was one of Justice's rebounds. The one handed grab was amazing. His defender tried to body check him as he was crashing the basket and it didn't phase him one bit.

Winslow, Tyus, Jah and Cook have taken turns being studs for this team through the season. The last two were all Winslow...kid made himself some money.

How about Matt Jones on defense. He had one stupid foul, the and 1 on Karnowksi (sp?), but he had the steal on the front in the post, he stepped in a stole a pass that Pangos threw on a pick and roll and he had the steal to finish the game. 3 huge plays coupled with the fact that he punished the Zags for trying to guard him with Wiltjer and other less than stellar defenders.

Yep. When he missed that and Duke scored...I felt like some of the air came out of the Zags. I had thought about making a couple of photoshops of Wiltjer missing it....such as 'Zigged instead of Zagged', and 'Easter Bunny a missin' with Wiltjer having on a bunny suit, or just a set of bunny ears. But I couldn't do it. I figured the UK fans would torture him enough over it, plus I truly felt sorry for him (but I'm still glad he missed it). Now, if it had been a Tar Heel...that's a horse of a different color.

Also, I'll submit one other big time impact. When Justise was able to come back from the turned ankle. I was really worried he was lost for the game. You can't predict what would have happened without him, but I'm not so sure we win that game if he doesn't come back. Props to the trainers for the tape job, and especially to Justise for being able to play through the pain. Glad we have a week off for the ankle to improve. I'm sure it's pretty sore today.

Amile had some quietly important plays as well. He's been so import at keeping us afloat when the starters are sitting. He'll be a great leader next season. His positive attitude has to make things easier on everyone.
