Big win

Gutty performance, with no meltdown at the very end. Chase was maddening with some hero ball bricks down the stretch, and that last-second foul was baffling. But a few clutch buckets and free throws sealed it…and big rebounds. That’s a good home win against a solid team to get back above .500 in the league. Impressive energy after the COVID break. Just a really tough, close game — and NU prevailed!

Golden chance to get to 5 B1G wins on Wednesday (then another “very winnable” game with Minny rolling into W-R after that). Please come through, Cats!

Had to have that game to keep NCAA hopes alive. Take another 50/50 game from the Huskers on Weds and we'll be rolling

I close my eyes and envision wins @Neb and vs Min — and a 6-3 conference record. Then I scold myself for such thoughts.
Some of us ditto your self-scold. Can't win both without winning the first. One game at a time, yada yada.

Coaching staff is walking a tightrope in terms of conditioning. As CCC mentioned tonight pregame on WGN, Covid-affected players were in isolation for five days before this game. No way that doesn't affect stamina.

Just as importantly, I'd assume the Cats don't fly to Lincoln until tomorrow night. But being NU, it's a good bet most players have daytime class obligations tomorrow so any practice time (even video review) will be at least limited.

I thought Audige ran out of gas midway through the 2nd tonight.

Thought he had a couple of good looks at the end…just didn’t finish. Nicholson making his free throws was huge!
I just watched the replay. I thought Audige had a horrible final minute. Two missed attempts with good looks and the needless final foul on the attempted three. Still it was a good win by the Cats. Let’s hope they can keep it up.

They were wide open shots that he created mostly by himself. It wasn’t hero ball, he had to take those shots. Just didn’t make them. He looked a little tired after the first few minutes of the game.

I can't watch the replay. One of those shots was pretty open, right side of the free throw line. Live it looked to me his legs jerked all over when he went up. I thought he either anticipated contact or his legs failed him on the jump, which can happen through extreme exhaustion. Of course I am not very confident I saw it properly.

Looking at the standings and our non-conference SOS, we need to go 11-9 and win one in the BTT. At a minimum.

NU reminded themselves that they can win these conference games. HUGE W and the rest of the season is relevant again.

I was watching the game on my telephone , just as I was fearing an NU collapse, a bulletin banner flashed on the screen stating NU 66 Wisconsin 63 Final. It was a very enjoyable stress free last 2 minutes of the game

Call me a coward, but some games I just have to turn off and then re-watch later when I know it is safe.

Actually he took a couple pretty good, high probability shots down the strech that would have gone a long way to taking control of the game. They just did not go in. Got to also remember that down the stretch, we had a few foul problems that may have helped determine the O

Great game and finish last night. Sitting there we were fearful of a Rutgers type finish. I was thrilled that Nicholson converted those two key free throws at the end. He clearly has been working on his free throw shooting and it paid big dividends. Hopefully they can build on the win and have a great week. it was good to see Martinelli play. I was wondering why CC did not play him for at least a few minutes in any of the Big Ten games. You have to be ready to go 9 or 10 deep in a long season like this. Go Cats!

Pretty sure last year's team would've found a way to lose this game. Collins pointed out in the post-game presser that Boo is much more composed this year, and I think that was the difference. And as you pointed out, Nicholson making those two free throws down the stretch were critical. We saw him miss free throws in the Rutgers game that may been the difference between a victory and a loss.

Our double and triple teaming down low led to a lot of open threes. The Cats need to find a balance. 33% shooting on threes = 50% shooting on 2s. I guess you have to choose your poison. Wisconsin really took advantage of it last night.

The difference last night was one player refused to let his team lose. The rest of the team rode his energy and did their job. Barney hitting a 3 with a great cut for a bunny were big plays. It wasn’t Big Matt’s best game offensively, but he nailed critical Free Throws! People don’t recognize just how good Boo can be.

I still turn my back every time an NU kicker attempts a field goal or extra point. I rely on someone else to tell me if it's good.
