So the top two teams play a rematch for the conference championship. Huh, that's a great deal for the team that comes in second. Expand to 12 teams and don't muck it up with a rematch. But of course it will happen because there is money to be had.

"I don't think a championship game is the answer unless we're going to divide up South/North, East/West, whatever we want to do," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said last week. "This year we would have played OU again. I don't think that's productive. I don't see what you get out of that."

I agree. SEC, B1G, ACC and PAC 10 have a weaker side of their conferences as representatives in the CPO and we have to take on the second strongest team in our conference? Stupid.

No, this vote only means they "can" play a Championship game, but they probably won't until they divide the teams up into divisions, which then probably means adding two more teams. This was said from the Big 12 Commissioner so it doesn't look like they will play a 2nd time, which I agree is STUPID!

Didn't say it "would" happen, but have the "right to" have a CC...correct?

Of course, if it's worth $15-20 million the schools will vote to do it.

DUMB!

I would be in favor of that format if Oklahoma comes in 2nd. Seriously though 1 vs 2 is going to be much tougher ticket to the playoffs. I'm with Oklabama about divisions.

Exactly......Millions of dollars. And another thing. If a team wins the conference out right, do they choose not to have a CPO? Scheduling, TV, all type of things come into play. Doesn't make sense. You either are all in or not............

I swear this conference is just a huge dumpster fire. If the Big XII chooses to adopt this and have a conference title game with #1 and #2, then OU needs to just put the nail in the coffin and leave and watch this conference burn to the ground. I can't fathom why OU would wanna stick around knowing under this scenario, this season they would have had to play OSU in consecutive weeks with NOTHING TO WIN.

We wouldn't have fielded a competitive team for the championship game this year had we been fortunate enough to win the semi-final, due to injuries. If they end up adding a CCG, then they need to play fewer games during the regular season. And they aren't about to do that because, in the end, it's all about the $$$$$$.

But everything to lose. Right? Like I said, it's a great deal for the second place team but a terrible deal for the first place team. I don't see guys like Bob Stoops wanting to play a team he has already beat when a playoff birth is at stake.

I would like to hear Bob's truthful feelings about all of this. I know in the past he supported the idea of conference title games as long as all conferences had them. But under this scenario it really is just dumb unless they increase the numbers of programs in the conference.

For OSU, what they would get out of it would be the prospect of second consecutive @$$ kicking at the hands of the Sooners.

Boren’s 3 requests will not happen…. The egos in Texas would never let them given in to them.

There is no agreement on which universities the Big 12 should expand with….

Texas will never give up their LHN. The other Texas universities will probably stick with UT to some degree.

Playing a championship game without expansion is and will be rightly be seen as really stupid.

This leaves OU with only one option and that’s going to mean leaving the Big 12 and a firm separation from the pokes.
