I do believe that the Committee will give one of the ACC teams a #1 seed but after what has happened in last couple of weeks and UVA going down to UL at YUM and now losing to UNC in the Tourney and now Duke losing to ND I still believe that UVA gets the #1 seed over DUKE. I see Duke at the 2 seed. Now if Duke would have won tonight vs. ND and then beats UNC tomorrow I would have went with Duke over UVA for #1 seed. I do believe that the Committee will still give the ACC one of #1 seeds.
It's going to be interesting and a bit controversial either way the committee goes on that IMO. Duke is better than UVA, beat them head to head, has a win over another one seed in Wisconsin, win at UL, win at UNC, win at home against UNC, win at home against ND by 30, etc. UVA played a much weaker ACC schedule and was fortunate to not play Duke in Durham or they probably would not have been regular season champs.
THAT SAID, UVA did win the conference regular season by ONE game...so I suppose the committee could go with UVA due to that. That is really their only trump card over Duke. I'm not buying that as enough, but I do not think anyone can take issue if the committee values that over everything listed above for Duke. And to be fair to UVA, they have some good wins as well...at ND, at UNC, UL, VCU when they were better, at Maryland (Dez Wells did NOT play though), etc.
Once again, no win situation for the committee IMO. As long as Nova wins tomorrow over Xavier (they should) and Wisconsin beats Purdue (they should) and then the survivor of Maryland/Michigan State (they should) then I think it is pretty clear UK, Nova and Wisconsin are 1 seeds, with the final spot coming to the ACC team of the committee's choice.
Both ACC teams resumes destroy Arizona's (losses to 3 NIT/CBI teams, in a pedestrian 3 bid Pac 12 league) and Gonzaga's (They have 0 percent chance with no really good wins to brag about). People on here can think what they want, but the committee is not going to make one of those west coast teams a 1 seed just on geography. Gonzaga does not deserve to stay out west, but Arizona clearly does. And Arizona being a 2 seed does not screw up fairly balances 1/2 lines as much, while putting them as a 1 seed would cause a massive chain reaction of BS and unfair brackets to the non-west regions as you would basically be rewarding cupcake Gonzaga as they would be the ONLY beneficiary of Arizona getting the last 1 seed.
