I thought he said he would be back, but the bowl announcers were suggesting he might retire again. Hope not.

If he does, could K State go after Chip Kelly? Snyder's offense was like a blue collar version of what Chip did at Oregon.

Oh yeah, then why did everyone on here hate his OC that Brooks stole from him?

Or are our fans just not satisfied with anyone----- or maybe Snyder wanted to get rid of him and tricked Brooks.

I think it was b/c most believed Snyder to be the genius behind K-State, and I think he proved them right when he came out of retirement and IMMEDIATELY improved them. Plus, I think Hudson just didn't mesh well for some reason. I don't know if he just couldn't communicate/teach the offense, if he just wasn't good at playcalling, or if he was just here when the talent was so bad it didn't matter what you called (probation other than his first year).

Hudson was not a good OC. When he was hired, we heard from KSU fans that Ron was not the true OC, much like we did about Dawson. Snyder was the brain behind that offense.

Hudson also was reportedly a real jerk. Brooks did not keep him long, just a little longer than Stoops kept Dawson.

If you are talking about Hudson he was garbage and the results showed that. He might be the only OC we've had that was worse than Uzelac. Not sure that's a good example of UK fans not being satisfied.

Snyder is good but over rated in my book. He started the whole scheduling of cup cakes at today's scale. His side of the conference was a joke for about 3/4 of his tenure. His bowl record is something like 6-12 with most of those wins coming against teams outside the top 30.

Good coach but hall of fame was premature imo.

First of all, Snyder is a great coach. His turnaround of K-State - a program in much worse shape than UK at any point - was one of the greatest "long term" football building jobs in my time.

I have no idea "how good" Hudson was as an OC for Snyder. Apparently good enough to win some games. But at least 2 people on this board (myself and UKErik) repeatedly posted the K-State offense (downhill run game with the TB, some option, deep balls off play action) was not going to work with UK's roster at the time.

Peace

I think he is one of the best coaches in past 20 years. He did what he did at K State and then went back and did it again

I appreciate what he did but look who he did it against. Great coaches should beat good teams in bowls.

Perhaps. His talent level at K St had not been stellar. People talk about how important recruiting stars are, but Synder has not had top-ranked recruiting classes, but has kept his team in top 20 talk throughout his tenure. I remember watching them shock OU back in Snyder's first run as HC. He got the most out of his individual players, IMO.

I agree and there is a great deal of difference between recruiting and developing players at a flag-ship school where the "name" does half of the recruiting for you.

I also judge "rags to riches" coaches by what happens when the coach is NOT on the sidelines, and KSU (in their history without Coach Snyder on board in his two HC tenures) was one of the very worst performers across all conferences....across all eras.....the real-life version of the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs.

Bill Snyder is a great coach....one of the best in my lifetime, and he is also the type of coach to whom I would entrust the welfare of a youngster. A recent ESPN article gives a little more context about Coach Snyder--linked. http://espn.go.com/college-football...sas-state-wildcats-bill-snyder-legacy-letters

I suspect KSU will return to the cellar after HOF HC Bill Snyder retires.

Thanks for that link. He oozed of character from a far and on the sideline. What a man!

I always admired KSU because I felt like if they found success, we could too. Snyder is a great coach and an example of someone making a program relevant. Regarding Chip Kelly, ESPN has been reporting that he is still wanting to coach in the NFL.

They were saying he'll make a big push for his son to take over...

may not be a big flashy hire...but that's not K-State...it would be good for stability...

not a lot of program changing names on the board at this time...

The Snyder way has worked for a quarter century...no sense in drastically shifting course...

Really admire Snyder and KSU...they never tried to be something they're not...they built a consistent program with in their means...a lot of good years...some great years...

started off 1-10...year 5 got 9 wins and stayed steady from there on for the most part...

Will someone give Kelly another shot in the NFL?

Always wondered what would have happened if Hudson had of stayed one more year with Boyd as QB. Jared did not fit the K-State O QB mold so I'm not sure we ever got the chance to see what RH really brought to the table ...

What did the guy do when he left us, besides steal a QB recruit?

I recall that he was very much disliked by the players.
