Guy is doing the Washington-Oregon game. He is such a piece of work. Stream of consciousness.....talked about how he spent a night with John Belushi, who would be 70 today (serious mind altering substances consumed I suspect). Thinks UO-UW should play on some bridge between Oregon and Washington. Knew that Wilt once had 55 assists in a game. Talked about the morning sunrise in Eugene. Just lives in a difference universe from the rest of us earthlings.

Love old Bill.

Yeah, normally I stay up for these West Coast games just to listen to him; it is quite a trip. Unfortunately, have to get up at 4 a.m. tomorrow. so won't have that pleasure this evening....

I used to think well of him but he's a ridiculous shill for a bad Pac 10 year in & year out. He can't shut up and most of his comments are so bizarre &/or pro- Pac 10 that I can only can watch a game he's announcing if I mute it.
He is even more annoying than Vitale who is super annoying but at least occasionally makes a pertinent point. Having lost a parent to cancer, I also give Vitale a bit of slack for what I think is his real support of the Jimmie V fund. But if both were booted tomorrow, I would be delighted.

I simply can't listen to Dickie V......I mute the sound on any game he does. I like the interplay between Pasche and Walton, Dave gets his shots in. They are a pretty funny duo. Walton was complaining about the 20 hour journey from the East Coast to Oregon last night, and Pasche asked him, "what'd you do, ride your bike" and left old Bill speechless.....

Man, why the Dickie V hate? C'mon, he's like the John Madden of NCAA basketball.

Walton and Jason Benetti in Hawaii in November were fabulous.

Like he does with Steve Stone, Benetti was great at setting up Walton and playing the straight man.

I would have loved to hear this. Benetti is great and really underrated. And as much as I think Bill Walton would annoy me if he was doing an NU game, I really enjoy listening to him do games when I have no interest in who wins. He's on another planet, and I like that.

Yeah I feel the same way. Tired of Dickie V's schtick, but I generally find Walton's ramblings entertaining. I don't really go out of my way to find him, but if nothing else on late at night he can make an otherwise dull game entertaining.

He is sort of a shill for the Pac 12, but from my impression it's tongue in cheek. He half-jokingly calls it "the conference of champions" a couple times a game, even though obviously he knows the Pac 12 stinks this year.

Should have asked if it was a magic carpet ride

I remember him calling a Bulls game in the finals of one of Jordan's Championship seasons and all he did was criticize every player on both teams. It really ruined the game. How the heck did those two teams get to the finals when they were so bad?
