I love Billy Walters.

He grew up in Munfordville. Hart County. About halfway between Louisville and Nashville.

What is his Kentucky connection?

I know he is originally from KY and had his first, and only, gambling conviction in KY but where in our great Commonwealth?

Says he owns car dealerships, so is he related to Bruce Walters of Pikeville?

Wonder if the current indictment might be the one to get him?

He bought Glenn Nissan, Wildcat Ford, Freedom Dodge, and Hudson Nissan (which has closed). He tried to buy Don Jacobs Honda, Toyota on Nicholasville, and Greens here in Lexington. Rumor has it, that he is now going to try to buy dealerships in Lousiville. He owns other dealerships across the country.

The Feds have been after him for sometime but could never get anything to stick. He is very careful in his operations on gambling. He also has the power to move the betting line on an event based on how he bets.

Thanks for the info.

The former CEO of Dean Foods is pleading guilty. Wonder if the Feds will go easy if he is rolling over on Walters.

Billy's living the dream!

I'll be surprised if he gets nailed on insider trading.

Nobody is more street smart than Billy Walters.

Not really sure how Billy can be charged because he originally invested 1M in a company that was supposed to create a subsidiary but didn't for two years. Then in two years when it was to start he dropped another mill into dean foods.

I'm sure it was dirty, but a phone call without the contents being recorded is not enough to convict.

Anyway, in my line of work that's called fundraising.

I hope they all walk.

My late father in law (FNL) grew up with Billy and they were running buddies for a long, long time. Each of them grew up with nothing but became very successful, in large part due to gambling. Both were in the car business and HUGE gamblers. My FNL, had a dedicated phone line in his house, that was answered by no one, including his wife and kids, as it was a direct line to Vegas. Billy tried to get him to move to Vegas when he packed up and moved there, but my FNL did not want to leave his business and up root his family so he turned him down. He stayed in Louisville and was a self-made millionaire. When I met my wife and we would go over to her parents house and it was no telling who was going to be there. Some of the biggest gamblers in the city would be there. I met Billy a couple of times and I found him to a nice guy and it was intriguing to talk with him and my FNL and listen to their stories. I was impressed that the 2nd time I was around him, he remembered my name from the first meeting. When my FNL passed away, Billy flew in from Vegas to attend the funeral. When my wife and I watched the 60 mins story on him a few years back, Billy mentioned the code name that he uses for some of this runners and it was my FNL's nickname that he was using. That brought a smile to my wife's face. If you are a sports better and you see the line move one way or the other right before the start of the game, you know that Billy just laid down a pile of cash..

I watched the 60 minutes piece a few years ago and was just fascinated with Billy's story. He is an amazing guy. He stated his overall winning percentage ATS over time was 56% and that he has losing weeks and even losing months but never losing years. Compare that to all those touts out there claiming 60% ATS and "guaranteed" winners etc., and you can see how phony they are.

I agree with you to a degree. There is no chance he bets the same dollar figure and hits at 56% clip and is rich.

So the truth is how many big bets do you hit that counters a lot of loses, because everyone who gambles loses more bets than they win but to get ahead your big bets have to hit at a higher rate.

He needs to check out the Paddock sometime. There's got to be people hitting 80-90 percent if you've ever read the GAMBOL thread. Amazing!

I've read where Walters would bet a large amount to move the line a half-point, then absolutely hammer the other side and win. Lines can shift based on his bets alone.
