Just what I heard on the local sports in Philadelphia the other night.
- not a real school
- coach has a criminal record
- some players were actually former Juco players
- have another game 3 nights later
- fooled ESPN and the other school into scheduling and televising the game
- ESPN announcers soon realized how bad they were
Obviously, no due diligence by any party involved al the way back to the Ohio Dept of Educationā¦
Very reminiscent of the 1941 Plainfield Teachers College hoax with their star running back John Chung, a "full blooded, half-Chinese, half-Hawaiian" potential All-American.
A couple of guys got together and called in the scores for a fictitious college to the sports desks of various NY newspapers including the NY Times to see if it would be printed in the paper. It was, and then it just grew from there.
