I'm as guilty as everyone else on here, and being 77 years old, I would love to see UK become a good team in football. They don't even have to be a great team, but just a team that can be competitive, and beat some of the other SEC teams like Missou, USC, Vandy, etc.
Is it going to happen with this staff, I just don't know? Let's face it, Stoops is NOT going to be fired after this year, and I personally don't think he should be. I still feel a coach should have 5 years to prove himself. We all know Stoops will be on the hot seat if he doesn't produce next year, and I'm sure he knows it.
None of us know if Stoops is micro managing as he did last year, or is the game just to fast for him as HC. Hopefully, we will not have another breakdown like we did last night in the second half. Maybe Stoops has to much faith in his DC, who is his good friend.
Firing Stoops after this year would not solve the problem, and his buy-out will prevent that. If he doesn't produce the rest of the year, season ticket holders will drop 15 to 20 % (dropped 13 or 14%) this year, and that will get him fired after next season. Let's hope that is not the case, and he will get it turned around. If not, then we will go through 5 more years of the same BS with a new coach.

Yes it will.

The most important thing this football program needs is accountability. Pressure. The overwhelming feeling that it is NOT okay to lose here. I want every single coach that we have to get nervous and bothered heavily by every single loss they take, even to teams like Bama.

That's how it works for UK basketball and that's how it works at places that demand football excellence.

Every single one of us should be bitching at the top of their lungs right now. Call Mitch. Email Stoops. Bring paper bags to the next home game. DEMAND BETTER!

Teams may not win within 4 years, but you can definitely tell a success or failure in that time. Good coaches don't show repeated regression in the same manner. I can stomach losing to schools like WKU on a 2 pt conversion, but getting pushed around by mid majors, not being able to put 2 halves together, feuding with your coordinators, etc. is a sure sign that there's no hope.

If we were going 5-7 and looked halfway competent doing so, it would be one thing, but we look like we're being coached by laurel and hardy. There is no hope in this staff.

1) I think most fans would be ok with five years IF by year four (now) he has a product that would stay competitive (maybe not win, but competitive) with most of the upper SEC Teams.

HE CANT EVEN BEAT A C-USA TEAM IN A HOME OPENER AND BARELY BEATS OUR "CUPCAKES"!!!!

This is what infuriates me with this ridiculous "give a coach five year bull ****. No, you make progress each year; not the same old stuff you gave us in year one.

Am I stupid? Can't people see the difference?!?! Honestly, can you see the difference?!!

2) Stoops should be a man, resign at the end of the season and forfeit the buyout. He won't (and who could blame him since that good AD made it impossible to get rid of him).

From what I've read stoops is running the defense. I just don't think he has what it takes to be a head coach. Giving someone to much time can be a big mistake as well. Extending his contract was a very ignorant move by Mitch. Stoops proved that he can recruit but that is just one aspect of being a head coach. We are still at the bottom of the conference in recruiting rankings and to level the playing field we have to out coach many teams in this conference to have a chance to win. The staff as a whole cant do that. I like Eddie gran and hinshaw but they have to deal with a terrible offensive line coach. Our o line is horrendous regardless of who Kentucky plays. What did schlarman do to warrant a contract extension? In my eyes he has done nothing to receive that and he did. I hope I'm wrong and stoops turns it around but after last night teams are going to try to run the ball down our throat and shouldn't have any trouble doing that.
