Seems fair. Can't imagine that any company could use his name/image/likeness without compensation just because he enrolled in college.

I guess the point is that he made millions in the NBA, why not have some poor golfing schmuck get the $$$?

I guess that I don't understand NIL. I thought that the deals were tied to individuals and not the college.
There is a high school Prep basketball
Player that signed with the same agency as JR smith and he is projected to earn millions from it.

This NIL stuff I equate to the Premier Leavue and sheiks owning teams. They can attract all the high end talent they want due to big $$$. Bye bye college sports.

It's murky. Like the fund at Texas - it's tied to the school, but not necessarily the player. 'Come to Texas as an OL, and you'll get $50,000.00 to promote this particular charity....'.
