With the Chris Mullin news today, this article is a perfect example of why teams like St Johns and others have fallen off the table. The obvious result of a situaion in which all of these guys were to stay in school, would be these talented freshman that are currently on rosters would have gone elsewhere, like St Johns, Depaul, UNLV, etc.
I just read for example a Kentucky recruiting report about 3 possible recruits waiting to make their decisions. What are they waiting on? NBA Draft commitments of course. If bizzaro world came true and WCS/Towns/Lyles all stayed in school, these 3 would all most likely go elsewhere. That won't happen though, and they'll see playing time in their future at Kentucky.
The one and done is a double edged sword. It takes away parody in that teams like Kentucky and Duke can rotate in the best freshman talent, taking away from the St Johns of the world. But teams like Wichita St, Gonzaga, Wisconsin build teams around 3/4 year players, that may not have been as talented as freshman but as Jr/Sr.'s are able to beat the elite freshman one and done teams on any given night.
