Had some friends see them in a hole in the wall in Charleston before anyone knew their name. They said they blew the roof off of the place and everyone wanted to run through a wall, lol.

They walked out after one song years ago at the dumpy old Louisville gardens - everyone was pissed and I remember one old boy yelling “Black Crowes…..asshoes” as I was leaving. It was a complete **** show

Per ChatGPT:

The incident where The Black Crowes walked out of their show at Louisville Gardens took place in 1993 — specifically on November 27, 1993.

What Really Happened at Louisville Gardens

  • Mid-show collision: The band began the performance with their song "No Speak No Slave." As the first song ended, Rich Robinson noticed a backstage altercation to the right of the stage. Lights went down, and the music abruptly halted. My Morning Jacket
  • Backstage conflict escalates: The scuffle involved two undercover narcotics officers from the Louisville Metro Narcotics Division and members of the band's crew—including security head Raoul Flores and merchandise manager Kevin Wegman. The officers had reportedly entered backstage without proper passes, which led to a confrontation. The band claimed the police initiated the violence; police said the situation arose because their personnel lacked passes. Both Flores and Wegman were later charged with assault and resisting arrest. Wegman, covered in blood, was hospitalized and released on bail.
  • Band withdraws from stage: After witnessing the chaos and possibly feeling unsafe, Chris Robinson returned to the microphone and announced that the police had “beaten up a friend of the band.” Shortly thereafter, the band exited the stage and did not return.
  • Audience left hanging: With around 4,500 fans present, the show was cancelled nearly an hour later. Tensions were high, and police feared a possible riot. Multiple arrests were made in the crowd for drug possession, and one individual was arrested after attacking a security guard. Fortunately, the audience dispersed peacefully.

Someone was supposed to correct me that the concert was Saturday. It wasn't. Just found out the hard way.

It is disappointing to me that "Stare It Cold" and "Struttin' Blues" rarely make their setlists. My two (2) favorites by them, by far.

Lynyrd Skynyrd for metrosexuals. just kidding. I have seen them twice. Once at River Bend and once in Nashville. Great band, when its not dysfunctional.
