Damn, I'm getting to be an old fuddy-duddy. The BC are coming to Denver to a smaller theater where they will do an all-acoustic set. I really like the BC so I looked up ticket prices. General admission, which I hate since I was at The Who concert in Cincinnati (kind of set up a mental block against GA). Tickets for the closest area to the stage start around $200/ticket. That's just too rich for my blood.

Wish I wasn't such a cheap-***, cheapskate but I learned it well from my parents who saved a ton and lived a REALLY nice retirement.

Yeah the acoustic run they are on right now has stupid ticket prices. Just wait till they plug in for the Summer tour with the whole band. Those tickets will be much cheaper.

Gorman on the radio caused me to develop a hatred for the Black Crowes I once reserved for Springsteen only.

Read his book. Chris seems like a real head case and a total egomaniac while Rich is just downright odd. Made some really good music but, man, dysfunctional and just not good dudes to hang out with, imo.

How can a band put out such an awesome 1st album that had so many great songs and then the rest of their crap suck so bad? Same thing can be said about Skid Row.

One of the top bands of the 90s. However, once they dismissed Mark Ford, it was all downhill from there.

I disagree. Their first three are all pretty money with Amorica kind of trailing off at the end and then By Your Side is nearly as good as those 3. Huge drop off, though, from there to Frost/Freeze.

Cursed Diamond is my very fav song by them. You should give Amorica another listen. I didn't love it first time I heard it, but it's one of my favs now. Lots of critics say that is the album where they hit their stride as a band.

Concert ticket prices have really gotten out of hand over the last decade or so.

I saw The Black Crowes with Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and Driveby Truckers at Riverbend in Cincy in 2006. I was about 10 rows back from the stage, far right side. Tickets were $49. Those same seats for any decent show this year are $250 or more.

Agree with ^. While no other album was as consistently good from start to finish (a LOT of bands would also be on this list), the best songs of the first 3 albums are quality. Their work after those first 3 albums was very spotty (if you read Gorman's book, Chris was uber difficult to work with and kept pushing the band away from their bread-and-butter, imo).

Saw them at Taft in Cincy a few years ago- $75 maybe? Had Jackie Greene on lead.

I saw them about four years ago at the Louisville Palace and they absolutely sucked. Chris was stoned out of his mind and mumbled lyrics while dancing barefoot on a prayer rug. The music amps were turned so loud that they seemed distorted. It was obvious that they didn't want you to hear Chris. I thought he left the band shortly thereafter. I still like their music and love the live album that they did with Jimmy Page years ago.

Just read that they are re-issuing "Lions" on Vinyl for RSD2020

Nothing about "By Your Side" or "Frost." Maybe they'll string them out over the next few years.
