Blessing in Disguise?

With the hiring of Gran and Hinshaw it looks like UK now have the pieces in place to hopefully take the next step to get to a bowl game, improve recruiting in Cincy area and S Florida, and finally, to improve QB play with a proven QB coach.

Funny to think that none of this probably happens if UK wins the Vandy game and goes bowling. So as much as it sucked, maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Thoughts?

Maybe. You'd have to ask at the end of next season. It seems as if Dawson brought more baggage than just bad play-calling though.

I think it still would've happened. Stoops vs Dawson became a thing...6-6 wouldn't have cured it.

Knowing what we now know I can look back and see that Stoops and Dawson were on different pages from the beginning. When Stoops described Dawson's offense it sounded totally different that what Dawson said about his offense from the first few interviews. I think Dawson and UK would have parted ways anyway.

I thought the same thing. Sure, it's easy to say the differences were still there but losing makes everyone and everything more magnified. If this hire works out, it saves Stoops' job, no doubt.

I will gladly take not being able to get 1 yard and beat Vandy and not going to a bowl if it meant that Dawson was gone. He was truly clueless.

My only reservation is the real appearance of no stability on the offensive side of the ball. I think we're working with our third OC in three years. With that stated, something had to be done. We will know very early if the offense is better then the last.

I would rather have Gran and Hinshaw instead of a bowl game. Now lets see what happens going forward.

This is year 4 for stoops. I'm no longer interested in the inner workings and trying to find some sort of silver ligning or blessings dressed as defeat. He's had 3 (going on 4) years to find the right personnel and stick to something. The fact that this discussion is taking place makes me want to cringe.

Gran and Hinshaw are Major upgrade over what we had!

Yeah I know I mean Dawson only had top 15 offenses before coming to UK. He was just awful, right?

And Brown what can I say other than he was just as bad as Dawson, at UK.

Bottom line is everyone wants to blame the OC when the reality is our issue is the HC. Maybe Stoops will prove me wrong but I really doubt it. I think he is another Muschamp.

You do know that Dawson didn't call the plays at WVU, right? And Neal Brown had next to no talent his first year here. The second year all the talent was freshmen and a few sophomores. I'm not taking up for Stoops but let's be realistic here.

It's obvious you hate Stoops, but Dawson did not lead any top 15 offenses. He was the biggest problem this team had and obviously towed some players with him. So glad he an PT are gone and now maybe this team can move forward. You sir need to lighten up and try to be happier and if you truly like UK football then start supporting it instead of tring to tear it down constantly.

Don't say that if we send in our resumes he might hire the drunkest one.
