I am listening live to the Zoom presser. George has been doing all the talking.
No real change in the front office structure. Ted Phillips remains CEO, but the next GM will report directly to ownership (George) rather than Ted, who apparently will be occupied trying to close on the Arlington deal and getting a stadium going.
Bill Polian will consult George on the hiring process. Phillips will have input as before. The Bears have a new VP of DEI. She will have a role in the search process.
EDIT:
Lamar "Soup" Campbell is a new VP of Player Engagement who will also have input on the coaching hire.
No compelling desire to have a GM in place before the head coach is hired. They will hire a head coach first if the opportunity presents itself.
No love lost between George and David Haugh, apparently. I could chill my six pack Yeungling on the icy exchange between these two.
