As a Bears fan, I wouldn't. We need a proven NFL Head Coach. Someone who has led their team to a Super Bowl. Harbaugh, Quinn or Doug Pederson would be higher on my list than a guy like Flores who would be on my Plan B list.
I really hope it's not Harbaugh, and I'm not a big fan of Pederson, who seemed to just kind of catch lightning in a bottle one season in Philadelphia. Quinn is definitely intriguing though. I'd be cool with that.
Fair point but Fox was not a guy who had experienced much success since the Super Bowl and he was in the twilight of his career hoping for one last pay check. I don’t think that description applies to any of those three guys. More than anything, I want a true culture builder who has a track record of winning, rather than focusing on a guy who has competency on offense or defense. Ron Rivera would be another name that I’d embrace. Chasing the hot coordinator and running the risk of completely whiffing is not something the Bears can afford to do at this critical juncture. With the move to Arlington and the building of a new stadium on the horizon, there is no better time than now for the McCaskey’s to pull out all the stops necessary to build a winning team. The move to Arlington and support for A new stadium will come a lot easier with the overwhelming public support that would come with a Bears renaissance.
I think the likelihood of Payton is even smaller than it was before now that Pace is gone. Would love for it to happen.

I want the Bears to hire Jim Harbaugh because it will damage Michigan, but I don't think they will do the smart thing. But we can REALLY dream that they would hire a different guy, that has NFL DC experience....
I don't think Zimmer would be a bad hire if you want a defensive minded coach. HIs Minnesota teams did pretty well in the beginning, but I think Minny needs a quarterback.
Michigan would do fine without Hardballs. It is easily a top 10 job. No more RichRods or Hoke’s are needed. Matt Campbell would do fine despite a downer this year for ISU.
Not sure about this. NFL guys have a tendency to come to the college game and make things too complicated for the players. They also mistakenly think college players have the ability to do things they can’t.
Problem is we still have Pace and he has already mortgaged the team so far into the future they won't be worth watching for another 5 years
Perhaps, but he's the epitome of Michigan, an arrogant jerk with entitled Michigan attitude. I can't stand the guy. All this talk about his struggles - one OSU win, zero bowl, Sparty struggles, mask the fact that he's a damn good coach, and probably better than anyone they can get, even someone as up-and-coming as Campbell. I was hoping they'd lose patience with him and fire him before he "figured it out". Now, OSU is a tall task, and they got pantsed by GA, but I believe he has figured it out and, if he stays, that they will be 10-12 wins, ad infinitum. That means I have to tolerate a successful Michigan AND their jerk of a coach for like 20 years. I'd prefer to take my chances with Campbell or Fickell.

I think that’s highly unlikely. The rumor mill is that a GM hire could be made in the next week to ten days. The blogger at DaBearsBlog was spot on in terms of what was going to happen today and has also been first to report other past moves in the organization. He seems to have good sources and I would recommend a follow if you are a Bears fan. This is what he posted this morning.
I survived the Dark Ages at NU. Then I saw Fitz play a lead role in taking the Purple to Pasadena. Then I saw him become a head coach at far too young an age, and start winning. Then he won a bowl game. Then another. Then he got a new facility built. Then he won two West titles in three years.
