Some have been studying what it takes to make it to the national championship and win.

So far in the playoff era--per 24/7

What is the minimum level of recruiting required to win it all?

Put simply, to win the national championship, college football teams need to sign more four- and five-star recruits (AKA “Blue Chips”) than two- and three-star players over the previous four recruiting classes.

This has been true basically as far back as modern internet recruiting rankings have existed.

Also---

What kind of numbers do you need to get into that national championship picture?

In the last 10 years, every team who has won the national championship had a Blue-Chip Ratio of at least 52% or higher and with the College Football Playoff now planning its expansion to include 12 teams, Elliot predicts it will only strengthen the benchmark’s success.

This year’s rankings are as follows:

  1. Alabama-84%
  2. Georgia-80%
  3. Ohio State-79%
  4. Clemson-67%
  5. LSU-66%
  6. Oklahoma-66%
  7. Texas-66%
  8. Florida-66%
  9. Texas A&M-61%
  10. Michigan-58%
  11. Auburn-56%
  12. Oregon-56%
  13. Penn State-56%
  14. Notre Dame-55%
  15. Miami-55%
  16. USC-53%

So what exactly does WVU recruiting look like over the past 4 seasons? Should give us an idea of making it to the national championship.
Well its pretty dismal. If you include ALL 4 and 5 star recruits at WVU from 2021 back to 2018, WVU, including all enrollees, transfers, signees there are a total of 7 4 star recruits out of 100 recruits.

That is 7%.

As posted in another thread WVU has a Loooooong way to go.

I thought your Mom was a 5 star. But found out see really wasn’t so I sent her into the transfer portal. Only reason people thought she was a 5 star was because she was visiting everyone.

Neal is changing this. Will take a few years to get to a respectable level, but we can see the change.
Will we ever get to 50%+? Let's hope so. Hate to quote CFE but the numbers don't lie.

There are programs that question this

Miss State under Mullen
Utah
Iowa State now
Indiana last yer

We will see if Iowa State and Indiana can continue it
Miss State couldn’t because Mullen left
Utah has

Since 2009 Utah has 42 draft picks
I can go back even further.

Get off recruiting rankings

Ultimate judge of talent is the NFL draft

They will decide who is producing players who can play at the next level

Dana did a decent job at producing NFL talent
At the wrong positions
This goes back to RichRod

Since 2000 WVU has had only 3 DL drafted by the NFL
Only have had 4 OL drafted

DL were mainly under the Bill Stewart coaching staff
As crazy as it sounds 2 of the 4 OL were Dana’s players
One was inherited by Rich Rod. Was a Nehlen OL
The other played most of his career under Bill Stewart

On Neal Brown to change this…

Up front
DBs
QB
Then the rest

Neal Brown gets it.

I say this because it is one step at a time
First step
Attract the talent
That has to be through the NFL draft
Has to be key positions. It is through development of 3 stars

^^^ If a fake Texas fan "talks" to himself on a WVU message board at 1:30 a.m., but nobody else "hears" him, then does he make a sound?

Nobody cares about you.
You seem to care about him.
Definitely care about me.
Follow me around on a message board

Point is
WVU has to develop 3 stars who have a lower success percentage
But certain programs have had better success at developing those

Last year’s class with Baylor and this class this year has opened a lot of people’s eyes
Believe they only had 1 legit blue chip. A QB

More delusional drivel from the fraud with three dozen profiles. Your post, as usual, is so poorly crafted that its meaning is lost. Baylor has nothing to do with this thread or the price of tea in China. Baylor stunk last season, and the Jury is out on its new head coach. Nobody's eyes have been opened as the result of anything Baylor has done since Ruhle jumped ship. If your first "point" is that WVU has to do a better job of developing three-star talent, then my response is no ****, Captain Obvious. Of course, the overflowing transfer portal will make talent development less important in the future, as WVU will be able to fill some holes with overachieving Group of 5 players, who have decided to make the jump to the Power 5.

Those Bluechip players aren’t important when you aren’t developing your players…

More than that players look at college as a place to improve their skill
So if you want to play OL and DL WVU hasn’t been a great place the last 20 years

Now Neal Brown is trying to change this.

Regarding Dave Aranda
Research Patrick Queen. Wasn’t on the radar…Was a CB in high school
Ended up a first round draft pick at LB

Aranda is trying to do this at Baylor now…
There are a few interesting players who he brought in last year

In a nutshell most title teams have around five All Americans and many future ones on the bench. The one team through the ages that won a title without elite talent was Georgia Tech back in 90. But if they had played Miami or FSU in a bowl they would have gotten waxed. There is no longer the opportunity of backing your way into a title with a playoff system.

With 12 teams getting in a playoff now then you basically need a really good qb and supporting cast. But to win it all you're still going to need something more.

Why is that?

Because you are stuck on finding reasons to hate Neal Brown
There are people who are finding reasons to support Neal Brown. That is what fans do.

Like I said I like to look at things from an unbiased POV
If you do then you see why people would be high on him
Starts up front. Neal Brown is going to get WVU in the position to where they are putting big boys into the NFL

Neal Brown believes in big boy football. Not a front. You see it by his actions
