You know the drill.

One of my favorites is Parcheesi.
It takes some decent thinking ahead. It doesn't take hours to finish. And presents ample opportunities to absolutely f*** each other over, so that hard feelings are almost unavoidable.

All the key elements of a great board game.

One of my favorite board games was from the 70s. Dealer's Choice. Loved that game.

Do people still play board games?

Meh. The latter half of gen X went to pounding people online. Check out EU4 and other paradox games.

My group played Cthulhu: Death May Die last weekend. It's very well-made, but it's really difficult (in two games, we barely got anywhere), and there are plenty of other, better co-op Cthulhu board games available.

Risk 2210, Lords of Waterdeep, Star Wars: Imperial Assault, Chess, and Scrabble are probably my top favorites.
