Re: our defense isn't an issue

sure, we need scorers. but the press killed us against uk.

and our 1/2 court defense is horrible. len elmore just said adrian is out of position ("needs to work on his game") one more time

Packing it back in a zone only works for teams that do not shoot well. You have to be able to play a defense that is versatile. Our press is what got us a winning record. It is not the problem.

The problems is being able to shoot the ball and put it though the hoop.

Re: our defense isn't an issue

The press does not have a chance to work if you can not make a basket. And that did not happen Thursday.

Kentucky was our worst nightmare - the have all the things that we can not deal with.

UK hit the outside shoots against us.

Not shooting as well against ND. Yeh, we don't match up well with them, but they were also having a great shooting night for them.

sure, we can win with the press

But we won't beat a deep, athletic team using it like we did this year.

I still think Bob is in it for a championship and he'll get back to his roots, as soon as personnel allows that....

of course, that means shooters too.

Sounds good on paper, but how does this team achieve Huggins goal of more scoring opportunities than their opponents by sitting back in a traditional defense. He saw that with this team's personnel they would struggle in a half court offense, which indeed they did. The press not only created more scoring opportunities through turnovers, but also created offense in and of itself. The traditional defense that you speak of would be fine if you have the personnel to run an efficient and productive half court offense, that was not the case with this years team, and unless we improve our ability to shoot the basketball at a higher percentage in the half court offense I suspect you will see it again next year.

Exactly. WVU had 2 pts through much of the first half and it took until under 12 minutes left for them to score 20 pts. They never reached 40 pts.

It's amazing a team could reach the sweet 16 shooting so poorly.

WVU must get players who can score.

Paperboy calls Huggins "Bob" trying to make like he is a friend, and then gives him great basketball advice. I hope he tells Huggins that he needs to score more points than our opponent if we want to get to the Final Four. More brilliant observations on our idiot board by someone who couldn't even dribble a basketball.

WVU is in the bottom 10% in shooting.

KU was our worst nightmare match up.

We aren't even that athletic and the press made us overachieve in victories.

A taller and more athletic team would run it even better,

The guys bought in and ran it. That was great. And they were athletic enough and deep enough.

Very well put......we had only 2 points for much of the half.
You aren't going to win any games with that.....unless, of course, you can keep your opponent to 1 pt.

It was a game where you lose by 39 points and it wasn't even that close....

I thought that too and was really surprised to see that KY only shot 4 for 15 from 3-point against WVU (26%). Sure didn't seem like it.
