Boba Fett Movie in the Works with Logan’s James Mangold

The fan-favorite bounty hunter from the Star Wars franchise Boba Fett is reportedly getting his long-awaited solo film at last, and it’s coming from none other than Logan director James Mangold.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mangold will write and direct the standalone film, which may or may not be the same Boba Fett film longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg was working on.
Rumors of a Boba Fett film have circulated since at least 2013 when Disney first confirmed plans for what would become the “anthology” series, separate from the Star Wars trilogies. The original intention was reportedly for a Josh Trank-directed Boba Fett to follow Rogue One. However, Lucasfilm parted company with the filmmaker in May 2015.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in 2015 that Boba Fett’s return is a “high priority” for the franchise. Kinberg was initially only attached as producer, but while the success or failure of Dark Phoenix could have conceivably earned him a promotion to the director’s chair, Mangold’s involvement clearly negates that possibility.
