With the recent success of McCabe and Knapper another freshmen showing splashes of potential it’s better for Beetle to move on. Haley has also stepped up as a bigger guard that has come on. It’s clear that Huggins has made the right move to move on with promising freshmen McCabe, Knapper, Horton and senior to be Jermaine Haley as a bigger guard at 6-7. Beetle was beat out by better potential. I’m glad he’s moving on. Knapper will be better than Beetle in that role by next year anyway. McCabe and Haley are the starting backcourt and both are looking better and better. Knapper provides good depth and will also get better and develop. Horton is a steal who will step up more next year. He’s going to be good here.

Beetle is not a point guard and is too small for shooting guard. He’s often out of control. Next years team is going to be awesome.

It’s real simple. Beetle was done. McCabe, Knapper, Haley beat him out for next year. All have shown potential, ability and Huggs chose those 3 plus Horton will be much improved in year 2 next year. Coaching staff thinks Horton will be a breakout player next year. He doesn’t understand sets and system well yet but next year he will be way better and more comfortable. Horton is a freak athlete that has a good attitude.

I think Doomes leaves and Harler returns and starts hitting those 3s better in limited bench role. That’s the key with Harler is too work on that 3. If he can do that he could be a valuable veteran bench guy next year playing 5 minutes a game. He is a great guy and teammate. Huggs likes him. McBride can possibly redshirt which would be great for him and create separation from McCabe, Knapper, Horton. Zyon Dobbs is said to be walking on and is a great walkon addition. He will get free ride on promise scholarship and lives 15 minutes from campus.

This sucks! Bolden was the heart and soul of this team when he was out there. Played hard. Hustled. Scored. But was injury prone.

Bet he transfers to Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, Xavier........back home.

James "Beetle" Bolden is officially in the NCAA Transfer Portal as of a few minutes ago, per a source.

Does anyone know if he graduated early or is going to graduate this year?

Beetle isn’t good enough to play at Cincinnati or Xavier. He could play at Northern Kentucky. He got beat out here. He needed to move on. He was career backup anyway who couldn’t stay healthy and too small for Big 12. He had his shot. He couldn’t deliver. Time to move on. Huggs wanted him gone. McCabe, Knapper, Haley, Horton are the top 4 guards for next year. They will be good. Harler may return as insurance.

Hmm . . . surprising to me. I thought Beetle was a pretty good player, could create his own shots, and gave 110%. Good luck to him.

Beetle always could light it up coming off the bench. He plays hard and throws his body around. He's fast and athletic, but even with all that, he doesnt seem to have the whatever it is that McCabe is showing right now, and he's way older.

Beetle was horrible for the team as a starter. He’s a bench shooter only. That’s it. He was beat out by McCabe, Knapper, Haley and Horton has potential and will be pretty solid by next year. Beetle was in the way of players with better upside.

Beetle is not nor ever would be top choice as point guard. When he played with McCabe, he found it very hard NOT to run the point. McCabe didn't progress and Beetle wore himself out, when he had never healed fully anyway, trying to play both the 1 and the 2. At least, that's the way I see it. Good luck to Beetle wherever he lands. As you and others pointed out, he always put out the effort.
