For what it’s worth — which could be nothing — Boo posted this last night. Nice to see CA in NU gear alongside… Maybe it’s a tea leaf, maybe we are weirdos for reading into any of this. Maybe both!

We are weirdos by virtue of engaging in a Northwestern sports message board. :D But, seriously, it's cool to see that our athletes are engaged with the neighborhood. Especially those who are not necessarily still in the program. (That last take reflects my intuition that Chase is moving on, which based on nothing but intuition and assuming that 24 year olds get tired of having to go to class.)

It’s a TrueNU event. So probably part of their compensation program. So…hold mean chase is on the payroll…

The question is, whether this is due to being on the 2022-23 payroll or the 2023-34 payroll......

I hate to burst your bubble but it’s still likely due to NIL from the 2022-23 season. Our students are still in school (unless they already graduated early).

However, it is a good sign - his options are at best G League, Europe/Australia, or return to college. I hope he chooses one more rodeo in Evanston.

It does make me wonder just a little why Chase hasn't already committed to NU for next year.
It suggests that his top preference is to get a pro contract overseas, as long as the money is decent. (if I'm wrong and the NBA is still a possibility, I apologize)

But I think it is safe to say that if Chase is accepting NIL money for next season, he would have announced he is returning to NU for year 6.

Thought he was already turned down for G league

The good news is the pro offers obviously haven't been good enough so far.

Even if there's a good offer overseas, there's still a compelling argument against it - no burgers, no pizza.

Must be something still pending somewhere... as it pends and pends here...

Again, I thought I read in another thread that both Boo and he were not offered G league
I don't know what you think you read.
My understanding is that the G-League has a draft in October.
That seems like it is only to fill out rosters.
But seeing as how the NBA evaluates a bunch of undrafted guys over the summer, it seems like that whole process comes first (before G-League), which makes "not being offered by the G-League" a bit pre-mature. (At least thats my understanding)

Here are key dates for G-Leauge.

If Chase can get on an NBA Summer League team as an undrafted free agent, and have a good showing, it could open doors to a G league spot. And/or improve his chances for an overseas contract.

Thats what happened for Law and Lindsey.
