I would take Boo all day. So why is Pat on an NBA roster and Boo not?
These are deep thoughts, Bob! Dang. What a deep question!!

But I am at a loss to answer it. They have much different skillsets - Boo was often quicker than his competition and most defenders even in the Big Ten, which made up for his lack of size.

The NBA is next level in all ways, especially speed. He just may not be fast enough but I am pulling for him. 🏀

I think Pat is the superior athlete. We have to remember that his year at NU was his first BB year since High School. He was just tuning up at NU.

I don't think either of them is quite an NBA scorer but Spencer is a much better defender.

Honestly, it depends on what you want/need.

Boo is a great ball handler, passer, and scorer with pretty solid court vision and below par defense, but in the NBA he's comparatively a little small and a little slow.
Pat isn't much taller, but he's a lot more physical, is a better defender, and also has great court vision. His outside shooting is pretty suspect tho.
They both have that necessary killer instinct and will to win.

I'd probably take Boo and get him set up with a dedicated defensive specialist. But I'd be happy to have Pat on my team as well.

Also, this is a bit of a platitude but Spencer is one of the most intense athletes I've ever seen. It's not a knock on Boo by any means, I just think that having that dawg in you matters, especially defensively. FOs love that. He's kind of an old school PG -- great assist and rebound rates, physical defense, ability to drive and dish... and bad from 3. Tall order, but if he can get his 3pt shooting into the mid 30s, he will be very valuable.

Boo is my favorite Wildcat ever. Love what he did for NU.

But he’s too small for this NBA. Just illustrates how exceptional NBA athletes are.

I’m disappointed Pat is still unsigned this year. I think he deserves at the least a two way with a NBA team.
Given his brother is a mainstay on the Grizzlies, I suspect he’ll get another shot due to that connection.
