My wife and I are headed up to Boston for the weekend following Labor Day. It's my first time to go. I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan so we're going up to catch them play the Astros Friday night. We may buy tickets to the Saturday game too haven't quite decided. Our time there is limited so outside of Fenway what are the absolute best things to see and do and eat? Thanks.

With limited time, the Freedom Trail probably gives you the most bang for your buck for a day in Boston if you like history.

Boston has great Italian on the north end, a good Chinatown district.

You'll walk through the North End doing the freedom trail, so that's a great option. All day walk if you do the whole thing.

We did the natural history museum at Harvard a while back, super cool place.

Can't go wrong, great city.

I was there 2 weeks ago and did exactly what they suggested. Sox game first night and the Freedom trail through the North End for some Italian on day 2. Fantastic city.

When we lived in Mass. we caught the Royals and Red Sox in 1988 (a bonus with Bo jackson playing), walked the Freedom Trail, went to some pub by the old Boston Garden, had to go the Bull and Finch club because of Cheers at the time and always tried to eat dinner at the Chart House. Live Maine lobster is unbeatable. They were very reasonably priced then, don't know about now.

Take a Harvard tour. The history just in Harvard Yard is incredible. Visit the Widener Library and read about the history of the facility. There's also an original Gutenberg Bible on display there.
