Not sure why anyone would want to come here to be a head football coach.
In the last 75 years, 50% of the guys who have been the named head coach to start the football season......have gotten fired. Clearly, this place is a revolving door.

Two hours ago our local news 27 reported the same thing. Fingers crossed. Promise him Bendapudi's house while we're at it and that Kraft will have to mow his lawn..
"The Campbells are coming, hurrah, hurrah". For the old timers that remember the commercial. lol
I bet it is better than BGJ’s VT contract.Any guesses to potential contract? Mine is 8 yrs / 88mm.
Whether it is good, great or crappy hire will depend on results.Campbell is a good, not great hire. However, I think he has a high ceiling. I like it.
Just from what I've seen from his ISU teams, he's probably a better "football" coach than our previous coach; he can do a lot with less. If he can recruit like the previous coach did, then I think that he will win a lot here. I do think that we shall see a return to more old school PSU football: tough and hard-nosed if not overly flashy, and less selfish play, which I am all for.Campbell is a good, not great hire. However, I think he has a high ceiling. I like it.
If this is remotely true - just insane to me... to pay that when we weren't even paying BGJ that makes no sense.Any guesses to potential contract? Mine is 8 yrs / 88mm.
If you want a coach of his quality, we have no choice; PSU has no cards left to play. The AD turned out to be one of the worst negotiators in the history of bad negotiators. He looked totally out of his league during this whole process. Perhaps he should start to comport himself like a real college executive, which he is, rather than an over the hill jock sniffer, which he acts like.If this is remotely true - just insane to me... to pay that when we weren't even paying BGJ that makes no sense.
I’d let Kraft stay if he cuts Campbells lawn. Push mower, no ride onTwo hours ago our local news 27 reported the same thing. Fingers crossed. Promise him Bendapudi's house while we're at it and that Kraft will have to mow his lawn..
You and I finally agree on something!Nothing means anything until Campbell is at a press conference IMO

I would gladly pay to watch.I’d let Kraft stay if he cuts Campbells lawn. Push mower, no ride on
Krafty knew ISU couldn't compete or come up any real plan to save Campbell so that was the only reason krafty went after him. Krafty needed to save some faceI'm assuming Kraft was in desperation mode and so went with an offer Campbell could not refuse.
If it happens, PSU got a coach who has done a very good job at a place where it's tough to win (he just was in the Big 12 Championship game last season), and has had teams that are tough and physical (just watch how they've played against Iowa in recent seasons). I have no doubt that he can coach football very well; he just needs to establish recruiting ties in our traditional recruiting areas, which require him hiring the right people with the right contacts. It's possible that this is a case of better to be lucky than good (for Kraft). Don't think Sitake would've been a good fit here, and let's face it DeBoer was never walking through that door. Between Chesney, Hartline, Campbell I take Campbell in a heartbeat. I especially like that he came up as an OL coach himself.
With all of the high priced players leaving and not having to pay a bunch of unproven 18 year olds, PSU should have a lot of money to spend and a lot of openings to entice veteran players. I would hope that some of his ISU players would follow him, but I cringe when I say that because I would hate for that to happen to ISU. However, this is a cut throat business.Wonder if he will bring any players with him (assuming PSU's NIL budget will be more attractive - it's way larger than ISU's. ISU's annual revenues are miniscule compared to PSU's; I didn't think there was any way that ISU could afford to try and match PSU with a counteroffer.).

PSUs hiring search getting so many coaches raises at their current schools has changed the market price. Just like top end NFL free agents keep upping the market price year after year.If this is remotely true - just insane to me... to pay that when we weren't even paying BGJ that makes no sense.
