What a 3 hour load of crap that was. I guess I just don't get it but I couldn't wait for it to end.

That's funny. I watched it last night and thought it was great.

Edit: I do agree it was a little too long.

I'm usually a fan of movies that break from the norm but I just couldn't get into it. A biography of some random emo kid, sweet.

I enjoyed the first half a whole lot more than the second.

Heard a panel of people breaking down the Oscars on Monday. On Boyhood they said "AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL". One said something along the lines that they kept hoping that Ethan Hawkes car would wreck and kill them all. Another said Arquette was in such a bad movie but was up for awards because she did something that nobody else has ever done, get old and fat during the filming. Granted these guys were mostly just tv personalities and such but all were in agreement that it sucked.

They also commented on Birdman saying it sucked too and the reason it was up for so many awards was because it was about the very people who got to vote - Hollywood elite.

Arquette won the supporting actress award in EVERY major film awards competition for 2014. Have you seen either Boyhood or Birdman yourself?

I thought Boyhood was a very interesting concept and a good movie. Although nothing "happened," it was a story about life and how every family is dysfunctional and that we all pretty much go through the same ebb and flow that life and change have to offer.

Birdman was brilliant. Loved the behind the scenes look at not just what it takes to put on a play, but this movie really dug deep into the characters. This was something I have seen in a movie in a long time and found it one of the best films I've seen in years.

Nope, which is why I am not putting in any of my own opinions.

It was an interesting movie about aging. As in, I felt like I aged a year by the time it was over.

On Rotten Tomatoes they've ranked every Best Picture winner ever from worst to best based upon their score on a Rotten Tomatoes (the y adjust it for some factors , and I believe they do this every year after the Oscars).

Birdman ranks #21. I think there is a slight bias towards more recent films, but the top 5 are:

1. Casablanca
2. All About Eve
3. The Godfather
4. It Happened One Night. ( watched this recently -- still very funny and a great film)
5. The Godfather Part II

So, pretty solid.
