Bracket Busting - Thanks, but no thanks, to Iowa and Kentucky

At least it looks like the relative standings in Lou's WildcatReport rankings were equally shared. Did anyone pick Iowa and Kentucky to lose in their first NCAA Tournament game? Would not be so bad, but many of us had both of these teams going quite a way. At least at the end of the day a number of us share 2nd place and only one person is in first by a close point score.

Don’t forget about UConn!

A buddy of mine had them as his dark horse, and many many people thought they could make a run again. My bracket is Sad!

Hope we see some more upsets today!

When it comes to brackets, you can have a terrible one, but if you have your final four teams still in, you can make a come back.

I had IA losing. And, embarrassingly, IU winning. I have UCLA cutting down the nets! Wow, that was close last night and UCLA looks awful. Akron deserved to win. UCLA had no movement, completely static offense. And the zips always seemed the ones physically pushing the other team around.

B1G is well on its way to what is becoming an annual debacle in the tourney. It'll really get embarrassing if Wisconsin, Purdue and Illinois don't play well. I don't look for much from Ohio State and Michigan State as neither have played that well for some time now.

The Davidson / Michigan State game should be interesting.

Atlantic 10's premier team is probably thinking they are going to stomp the Spartans after what Richmond did to Iowa. Could go either way with two key players for Davidson having transferred away from MSU. Will they be nervous and play poorly or will they be motivated and know everything the Spartans will try to do...

Wisc, Purdue and Illini are the only three BIG teams that I thought had any chance to get to the Final 4 . I picked Purdue to get there and that looks better with Kentucky's loss, but this tourney is already very unpredictable. It's really hard to evaluate strength of leagues. Several people on the board were touting the Mountain West and every one of their teams went down in round one and none of them were close at the end.

I'd be shocked to see WI get to the 2nd week. They are consistent and disciplined. But the talent beyond Davis is not overwhelming.

They have, however, a good path. If the beat Colgate they face either a "coachless" LSU or an IA St. team that peaked long ago.

Great insights and have to agree with CatManTrue, as disconcerting as the upsets are to our bracket advancements, they are fun.

BIG could go 4 for 4 today after Ohio State fought off Loyola. Holtman must have lit a fire under the Buckeyes because their defense was phenomenal. Loyola took advantage of a lot of guys playing their fifth years and their play was tenacious, but the talent level is not Big Ten and it will be interesting to see how Valentine does going forward.
