Transfer TE from Ball State was considered a big pickup for us.

So, the portal is so transitory, that we lose players even before they set foot on campus now.

You cant be shocked if amy committed fiture player flips, or even a player jumps on the portal after a season. Some of these guys will have played for 3, 4 or probably 5 different teams if its possible. A new team each year.

It keeps our coaches and recruiters on their toes. :) they need to put in a little over time recruiting and establishing relationships with mega donors, which I keeo hearing is Tanner’s strength as an a/d. But we haven’t seen that supposed skill that has go into overdrive like it needs to.

Former "Huge Get!" immediately transformed into "wasn't good anyways", this is the new world of college football.

College football had a good run.

For context apparently his coach at Ball State was hired at A&M. Not sure what SC could’ve done. Too bad signing doesn’t bind players to a school for even a year anymore.

I'm not a lawyer. Maybe someone who is can answer:

Are the hands of the NCAA tied that they can't make changes to the Portal rules and also to NIL rules (understanding that the Supreme Court opened the NIL can of worms)?

They don’t sign an NLI (like high school recruits) which is binding for a year (except in certain circumstances). They sign financial aid agreement papers, which are not binding for the player.

No lawyer here either, but by my observation, the toothpaste is out of the tube, and any attempt to reign this mess back in will just be litigated into oblivion. The poor, downtrodden, maligned “student athlete” has ALL the power/leverage now, and the courts are in their favor. Cfb is never returning to the way it was. At least those so bearish on NIL and transfers are happy I guess.

Yes it will bc big money ppl at the top won’t let this mess continue. Right now, CFB is sustained by traditional fans who are still watching. TV doesn’t need another NFL product. So, CFB will be separated from the NCAA and some kind of deal will be made with the NFL. Some kind of contract will be standard.
