Just throwing it out there ahead of time. No surprises. Best of luck. Hope we meet and smash KU next year, just like we did this year.

Headed to Carlton Bragg college announcement. I'm excited for him, boys basketball team, teachers, parents, Graves and Adidas.

So did he announce already or is this just your guess? I hope he picks KU over Illinois. Would be a much better fit for him IMO. He's a great talent. Hate that we missed out on him.

Seriously question, but how so? Because of Self and it being a blue blood?

He'll be fine on either, and don't think one is a glaringly better choice than the other.

I've always thought that when ANY top recruit doesn't pick Kansas/Duke/UNC/Etc... it's a pretty nice consolation prize for not picking us. Much rather see him go to Illini.

I don't care for him now. He sought a scholly from Cal and then goes to Kansas. I know it was completely expected but what a dumb-ship. I know there are issues with unknown Kentucky players who may or may not return. Doesn't matter. Is he not watching what is going on? You don't pass on the opportunity to go to Kentucky if offered.

"Next year I'll be playing at the University of Kentucky -- I'm sorry. Kansas."

Shows up in Lexington next year... "Uhhh, this is Lawrence, right?"

this. Bragg could have been a superstar like Cousins or Davis, but now he's all but doomed to have a Morris Twin / Thomas Robinson type career in the league.

Kansas' roster for next year (so far)...

5'11" Frank Mason III - Jr.
6'2" Devonte Graham - So.
6'5" Wayne Selden Jr. - Jr.
6'7" Brennan Greene - Jr.
6'8" Svi Mykhailuk - So.
6'8" Jamari Traylor - Sr.
6'8" Perry Ellis - Sr.
6'9" Carlton Bragg - Fr.
6'10" Landon Lucas - Jr.
6'10" Hunter Mickelson - Sr.

Oubre is probably gone, and although Alexander has slipped into the mid first round, he will go as well unless he continues to slip. That means Kansas will have two pretty decent wings in Selden and Svi, no center (does Diallo exclusively want to play the 4?), three power forwards, and no point guard.

Newman might want in on Kansas if he wants to play the point guard next season, but that's far from certain. Brown might want to play the 3 in the KU system, but that means Selden probably comes off the bench next year behind Svi. Ellis and Bragg will battle it out at the 4.

Lots of work to be done for the KU staff. If they miss out on a true big, who does Self use at the five next season?

How the hell do you make that mistake? If he had said UK and meant KU, I could understand. But to say Kentucky when you mean Kansas is pretty crazy. Oh well, best of luck to him. I never thought he was coming to UK anyway, and we will be just fine.

Perry Ellis might go to the pros as well. I know many here may not remember, but he was a huge target that Cal wanted. Too bad Bragg didn't pay any attention. If he had come to UK everyone would know his name.

Bragg didn't have an offer really as he was put on the back burner so he went where he was wanted . can't blame the dude and i thrilled as this means we will get who Cal wants.

Who wouldn't want to live in Kansas and get beat in the first weekend of the tournament?

That's a pretty good assessment and glad you see the fact that Svi has the potential to supplant Selden in the rotation, as Selden has been a big disappointment given his perceived potential based on his high school ranking. Svi is two years younger than the other freshmen in the class and just needs a year to add strength to his game, but has tons of skill for his size. I think you are underselling Mason at the point, although not his true position, if you compare his impact to other top 25 point guards in his class (he's more of a scoring 2), he's out performing many of them. Again, you nailed our biggest need in a true center. Zimmerman is not coming. Maker, if he reclassifies can play the 5 on defense and would fill that need. The other potential recruit we are still hot after is Diallo. Either him or Maker would fill that center void nicely.

Don't be a troll.

Everything he said was right on the money. Stop being insecure about why UKU has Bragg.

So, Calipari went and saw him last week, because he didn't have a legit offer? That doesn't make sense.

makes perfect sense. cal was still recruiting him hoping for a spring time decision. right now there are probably just 1 or 2 bigs that can commit to kentucky. and he really wasnt one of them. dont get why that is so hard to understand

Wasn't Selden rated about as highly as the Harrison's? Kansas fans love to rag on the fact the Harrison's draft stock has dropped, but they both would still probably be drafted ahead of Selden if they came out this year. He's been almost as big a bust as Wayne Blackshear.

These KU fans are complete idiots.

Cal wanted Bragg to wait until the spring. That way we had all of our choices on the table. Bragg, due to pressure from Adidas and probably some negative spin from KU, went ahead and made the jump. Bragg is 100% not our top target but having him wait was our smartest play.

Is tis recruiting thing at this level that hard to comprehend, or are kansas fans really coming here because they want to learn the way the system works?

Congratulations @carltonbragg31 on ur commitment today! Great choice, awesome program!
Kentucky owns Kansas in a way not usually seen in college athletics.

How many titles does KU have? This question befuddles the other chickenhawk posters on our board.

a better way to ask that question is this.

True or false: Kansas has less championships than Uconn?

If they don't come to UK I don't really care where they go. We can't get them all. Cal has an excellent start on this year's class, but sooner or later he's going to get a class that isn't ranked 1st or 2nd. This can't last forever, and will change for any number of reasons. Those of us who've been around a long time know these things, like many things in life, go in cycles. I'm enjoying it to the fullest while we can though.
