Yeah that was atrocious. He was yelling after a strong and 1 and walking by a defender. You see worse after ever and 1.

That technical that ref gave Brandon was ******** I mean absolute horseshit call .

Yes it was.

Yep, the official made a very egregious rookie mistake…you never make a call on a play that you don’t see.

The official saw him get excited, but he didn’t have the angle to see Garrison wasn’t even looking at the Gonzaga player.

That call should’ve ONLY been made by either of the other 2 officials because they were the only ones with the angle to see it properly.

TBF, from OUR angle (I'm assuming everyone's stream had the correct angle) and the calling ref's, it *sort* of looked like taunting. I believe one of the announcers (I didn't have the Leach feed) suggested that. If I were a player I'd walk away from the opponent when getting super excited.

That's the problem... he did NOT have the angle to make that call.

I officiated when years ago, and you just do not make that call when you cannot see exactly what happened.

See refs do it all the time. Reaction calls and anticipation calls.

Oh, I was definitely guilty of an anticipation call or two, but I realized it was better to be slightly late on the whistle to make the right call. Otherwise, if you try to anticipate and blow the whistle, but the foul DOESN'T happen, you still just have to stick with the call.

It's so strange that coaches, players, and fans hate a delayed whistle in basketball so much b/c they act like the call is somehow wrong if it isn't called immediately.

When I called football, it was different instructions... we were taught to watch the play. If there was a minor penalty, but it had zero impact on the play, keep the flag in your pocket.

Except he was just fouled so he was walking away from the rim and towards the freethrow line while shouting at his own teammates and flexing. The under the basket called the T looking at his back bc their was a Gonzaga player walking by him

Garrisom had a stretch there in that game when he was very good. I went from wanting him to come out of the game to complimenting him. He has had several stretches like that in several games. He has a nose for the ball and he finishes well around the lane. He cuts well and has pretty good hands catching the ball. If I were to offer a critique, I'd say consistency is what he needs to work on most. He has the ability, the athleticism, and the understanding of the game to play well every time out, but he just sometimes lacks the consistency, in my opinion. I think he will make a leap this season as it progresses. I'm already seeing better play. Glad to have him on the team. 👍
